You can also try putting baking soda down it (about 1/2 cup), followed by 1/2 cup vinegar -- the two together will foam and might cut throught the clog. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then run some VERY hot water into the draing. The bad thing is that if this doesn't work you can't use bleach or Drano afterwards.

If the clog is in the trap and not too far down (like hair) go to Menards (or any hardware store) and get a Zip-It ---- it's a plastic strip with teeth on it. You run it down the drain, pull it out, and it brings all the crud with it. It works GREAT, if the clog is high enough up for it to reach. They run about $3 each.

Yes, it's safe to use. Alot of times bleach doesn't work because of what is clogging the drain line. One thing to always remember, never use an acid type product that if it doesn't work you'll have to open the drain line or someone else will. The time when acid products are used is if it doesn't work for you or someone else, a plumbers snake can be run inside of the clogged line..

It will be OK, but make sure no one has used Comet or any other chemical before you do. That can be a very nasty thing if two non compatible chemicals are mixed in a very small place. Could even start a fire ,gas you, or blow up. Be careful, K? Oh hey, when my kitchen sink gets clogged, I whip out my handy dandy Tape Measure. Not to measure with, I use it as a snake. Works every time.

Hi there... I'm a plumber and I never use any drain cleaners! They can damage your pipes and eventually if u use them alot eat a hole through it. then you'll have some serious problems.... I suggest going to a home depot or somewhere to rent a snake and un-clog the drain yourself... If u dont wanna get dirty then hire a plumber to come! The guy (pig something) has the right idea! Hope this helps! Good luck!

bleach will not hurt the system, but it will not work. you either need a caustic (very base) or acid (obviously very acid) to clear a blockage. caustic, when mixed with water generates great heat-essentially burning the blockage. acid, literally, eats/dissolves the blockage.

Draino contains caustic soda/you can buy 70% sulfuric acid solution at hardware stores
