My cat tore away all the weatherstripping at the bottom side of the door. The weatherstripping looks like a soft vinyl accordion with part of it behind the frame of the doorway. The door makes a seal up against it when its closed. I have no idea how to get it off, what I need to replace it or even how to replace it. Anyone suggestions?

It sounds like you have a vinyle clad whheaterstipping system. It snaps into a grove in the dorr jam. Removaval is easy. Just grab an edge and pull away from jam. installaation is just as easy. just cut to fit and snap it back in. You can purchase the materials at Home Depot in 7ft. strips. I suggest you by 3 pcs. at about $5 a pcs . you should end up with about half of the top strip extra but save it for futer use. I personally tack it in with finish nails about every foot or so to prevent it from pulling loose. Good luck

Take the advice of William B. . We have a place in the country that I needed to replace the bottom and sides of weatherstripping of the front door that faces west and rain was somehow coming in. The point I want to make is no one could help me until I showed the type of stripping that had been installed. It was an easy job to replace it after I got it, just remember how it came out and the length it takes to replace.

if its a magnetic type, 'metal door,' use a puddy knife or some thing small to work an end loose and just pull it out. hardware stores sell precut replacements. You might have to buy all 3 sides as they're usually packaged that way. come in colors too. stay away from the sticky backed types if you can.
