Due to one white cotton garment that got with black cotton clothes in my machine wash, all my black clothes have been completely covered with light fluff from the white garment. despite rewashing all of them, the white very tiny fluff seems to not go off!- I KNOW After they dry I can use a thick sticky tape or the gadget to remove fluff but it will not remove it completely- Is there any home tips anyone has or must I send all of them to a laundry??!! Any home solutions would be of great help- Thanks

I have a window unit heater/AC in my apartment. However, my smoke alarm turns on within minutes of me turning on my heater. The AC works fine on the same unit, just "heat mode" sets off the alarm. Any suggestions? I asked my apartment but they're taking forever, so I thought I'd come here...

about 6 months ago I moved into the house I'm in. I found there was 3 fruit trees and I have been waiting (not so) patiently for them to fruit, so I know what they are! well, they are JUST starting to bear fruit and I'm getting impatient!

I was wondering if I could appeal to you to pick your knowledgeable brains and identify them??...

here are pics of the immature fruit (along with leaves from the trees they came from) .. any ideas?

Can these be laid over sand or do they have to be laid over a mortar bed? Also what do you use to infill the cobbles once laid? And do they need a kerb edging?

I am in the process of purchasing my first home (excited!). it's a really old place but in rather good condition. it has yellowy coloured cladding on the outside. inside the walls are white and marked so the first thing i want to do is paint the interior. I want 2 different colours, one for the walls and roof and one for the trims and window frames. It's a very small house so want to stick to the lighter colours to make it look bigger. Does anyone have any good ideas for colouring or sites? my parents use a really white/peachy colour on their walls with grey trims. i'm thinking similar but more grey/blue trims. i want my own theme and it will be throughout the whole place. my furniture is mainly brown - light brown tv stand and cupboard with dark brown wooden sofa with green/brown cushions. the carpet is red but i'd like to put new carpet in one day. what colours do you think would be nice? i'd like more calmer and softer colours compared to dark vibrant colours . thanks in advance :)

Can anyone help, I need to name the stages of construction (for an assignment) of a brick house from excavation to ...lock-up? I believe there are 13-15 stages each requiring different sub-contractors. Even links to sites would be really helpful, as even with that I am having no luck!

When I turn my central heating on, the boiler doesn't fire up. The boiler is working as I have hot water.

The pump is silent and if I put my hand on it, there is no vibration, could it be the pump?

There is a small squre aluminium box with a lever on it (some type of valve?) which makes a clicking noise. I have moved the little lever to the three various positions but it makes no difference.

What do you think folks? A new pump? Or a new valve thingy?

I have installed pavers that sit flush with the ground by digging down 7-8" and laying the base material, etc and installing the pavers with metal bordr to keep things in place. How do I keep everything solid if I am building off the ground and filling before I install the pavers. Obviously the metal border is out since it would be exposed and out of the ground.

I accidently spilled bright pink nailpolish all over the tile of my bathroom floor, and I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to wash out the stain because it seeped into the grout as well. I don't want to be charged for this...how can I remove the pink entirely???

So, I have a sliding glass door to my backyard from my bedroom. This door shuts almost completely, but there is a visible gap towards the bottom of the door. At its widest point, its about half of an inch. This wouldn't be a big problem, except for the fact that I live in Buffalo and it's already starting to get in the 40s here. How should I go about fixing this gap? I'm not exactly the biggest handyman, but I was thinking using cauck or something to put there. Also, any suggestions on insulating these windows/glass doors for the winter? Thanks!

I want to rewire my home. It is over 100 years old and has a fuse box with 4-20 amp fuses. The power comes in through a line which splits into four insulators attached to a board.

I spoke with an electrician and he said the first thing I need to do is call the provider (Virginia Power/Dominion) and ask for a "Power Up".

Before I call, I'd like to understand what I'm asking for. It's a small house in which I have lived in for 27 years. I have learned to live with the circuits (no microwave while the computer is on). I don't plan on doing anything big-just would like more outlets.

Will this "Power Up'" cost me money and what do I need to know before I call?

What should I put the comforter in? Someone suggested a garbage bag, but doesn't that seem kind of "trashy?" pardon the pun.
Or am I just being ridiculous? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Approximately how much would it cost to add a small apartment to my house. I have a brick home and I want to enclose my carport to make a small apartment for my Mom she wants one room for dining and a small den. A small kitchen and a small bathroom. I may have to extend the carport some. Any guess would be appreciated. My house was built in 1968 and the roof is approx 8 years old.

Is there a "magic" potion I can make at home and spray/apply to my lawn to make it green, thick, and kill ALL weeds and bugs? I have St. Augustine, bugs probably chinch and grubs, and broad leaf as well as other hard to kill weeds. I don't want to hire Tru Green again because of the cost involved.
