I live in a rural area and only use dead wood that is available. I also save energy by using cast iron pots on it for cooking. Just wanted to know if others were using one!

I am building a deck, have installed all of he sub fream and joists, and now simply need to fasten the deck boards on.
If I pre-drill and countersink the screw holes, should I drive the screw below the surface of the board and back fill with something, or should I leave them flush with the surface?
Thanks
Mat

The footings at Lowe's are pre-cast concrete about a foot tall i think there is one size bigger as well that have spaces in the top like enough for vertical studs or a 4 by 4 post as well as spaces that look like they could be for side to side support joists. They look like a big + sign in them If i space enough of the footings evenly it IS possible to use them instead of a concrete slab to build the building right? I live in Missouri and our overnight lows are already in the lower 30's and i don't really feel like messing with a slab.

According to the BBC: "The average bed could be home to up to 1.5 million house dust mites."

I find this disgusting I've tried looking but I can't see them on the mattress.

I am installing a chair rail in a room with a window. When my chair rail meets the window, should I run it right below the window trim? Or should I give it some room between the rail and the trim of the window. I am painting one color below the rail and another color above the rail.

Thanks for your help!

You find a magic bottle and rub it and out comes a genie. She will allow you to have only 3 tools. What 3 tools would you choose to help you build your hut and why?

And don't say "it depends". I assume the blower is included. This would be for an 1100 SF cabin.

Inside the plastic barrel, so much dust collects in the "honeycomb" aread and all over. I've hand cleaned as much as I could, but I'd really like a better way to clean it. I rinsed it once with water, but that left a dirty, musty smell. Any suggestions? Maybe the part (w/ honeycomb) inside the barrel comes off and I haven't figured out how? I've tried the Dyson website - it was no help.
