Depends on the nature of the wood. The softer the wood(pine), the deeper into the grain the stain will be. However if your desk is treated with a sealer(polyurethane) it may be able to remove the stain without much damage or repair.
Try a product like 'goof off' it works very well.
Otherwise, you will have to sand the desk down past the stain and reapply the original wood stain and finish.
I am a carpenter and custom furniture builder, so I know a thing or two about this.
If your desk is made of a veneered particle board, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

All this depends on the courseness of the wood, how much pourous it is, Here is a few tips that i can suggest,
First if not a big issue I would try to sand alittle to get to the ink plus use the sand dust when using the chemical below to help soak up the ink so I will not spread
Full strength Bleach depending on the INK,
Acetone Nail Polish
Rubbing Alchohol Alchohol highest possible %
Good luck and hope i have helped some

Try a damp towel and a hot clothes iron, iron the towel directly over the ink spot. Should leach out the ink.

You can try staining the entire surface with a darker wood stain than the ink.
