Bought a washer and dryer from Home Depot yesterday($800). Today an add comes out advertisment 10% off all appliances. How ethical is it to return and ask them if I can get the discount. One friggin day later and I could have saved and extra $80. Argh!!!!! What are your thoughts???

I am a uniformed worker and want a really good shine. Do you put on the polish and then buff with the cloth and then brush, or do you put on the polish, brush and then use the cloth. Any suggestions. The shinier the better!

because of some interior problems, we found the entire building including the attic was wrapped in plastic before insulating. I am told the plastic in the attic must be removed because it stoppibng any flow of air and is causing moisture concens=that can cause black mold. Is there any alternative to fixing this problem.

im usine old pieces that are hard and not chalky, im kinda straped for cash for this project so i thought that i could take some of the larger pieces about 3''x5'' and lay them in the form and pour concrete over them that has smaller pieces about 1''-3'' wide mixed in, also with sand. what i really want to know is will the new concrete bond with the old in a suitable manor that my side walk will not crack. the only reason i could thinnk that this would not be a good idea is because the larger pieces would be to large possibly?

The water came in between midnight and 7:30 a.m. At 8:30 we had a restoration company come in and vacuum the water out and install blowers and dehumidifiers. The blowers have been running for 3 days now and the company is saying we need to rip the baseboards off and replace about a foot of our drywall. We only had 2" of water. Are they telling us the truth?

I've just purchased some dark brown couches, and am concerned that they may eventually fade. I love to have the windows open in my home and for my next purchase may consider a lighter color.

I live in an area where the houses are built entirely of cement blocks including interior walls. From what I can tell the cement blocks are covered in a very smooth coat of cement applied like plaster. Then it seems they just paint over that. Many homes here have problems with the paint peeling off the wall especially near the floor boards. I assume it is a moisture issue.
There must be something that can or should go on the cement prior to paint. Some type of water proof primer? Any painters know?

We are prepping our kitchen walls for new cabinets that a Lowes installer is installing. I want to make sure that the wall that is showing is sanded and painted but I'm not sure where the back splash will end on the wall and where the wall cabinet will start. I've read that there should be 18" from counter to wall cabinet. Can anyone tell me what the standard counter height is? We will have granite counters w/a back splash. THanks!

I want to redesign my home office -- install built in cabinets, bookcases, widen counter space, allow for more computers, etc. Right now it is a hodgepodge of hutches, desks, bookcases that don't match. More importantly I need better organization

I'm confused whether I should go with companies such as California Closets http://californiaclosets.com/ which does cabinets or do it via a local contractor. What are the pros and cons of each one? Thanks
