I live in a rural area and only use dead wood that is available. I also save energy by using cast iron pots on it for cooking. Just wanted to know if others were using one!

hi yes we have a woodburner as we live in rural France and this is the norm!! we love it, we buy logs from our local farmer (all the forests are replenished) we find it lovely and warm in the winter and much better for our health than central heating we don't suffer from blocked noses and sore throats so much!! happy burning x

I lived in Country England for 12 years and we had several woods nearby. we would go out with a trailer and haul the dead logs to it . Go home and cut them up. It was great to see the shed full of logs. We had a wood fire stove that also ran some Radiators. so it saved us a lot of money . and kept us fit and warm.

Yes , we have installed a add-on wood furnace. Our heating bills are non-existent! We say that the wood heats twice...once when you cut it and split it and once when you burn it!!. I like the add on because we don't have a wood mess in our living area..It is all kept in the basement. We also have a fireplace which we use on cold winter evenings. Wood heat is so much warmer than conventional fuels.

Yes I have.We have a all electric house ..which is still cold.so we added a wood burner..you have to be careful with them .and watch what wood you use..some wood burns hotter than others.and yes i have cooked on it..the food taste fine ,your pots might get a little black depending on the stove.a front loading one is the best..
