Actually fix the plumbing correctly and to code.

I lost count of all the DIY projects I have had to fix.

It always costs more too, as I have to undo what you have done, before I can proceed with the proper repair.

I recently repaired a job where a DIY guy had replaced a toilet. Pretty simple job, however, he didn't know that he had to repair the broken flange first.

The toilet leaked slowly over several months and when I got there, the subfloor was damaged to the point we had to cut it out and replace it, the toilet flange had disintegrated and had to be cut out and replaced, the linoleum was ripped up with the subfloor and had to be replaced, the baseboard was damaged getting it off to take the subfloor up and had to be replaced. The toilet was fine and was reinstalled.

A job that would have cost less that $200 labor ended up costing $1500.00.

A lot more then you can, and they have the tools of the trade that cost, sometimes thousands and, have gone to school for about four years. This isn't counting on their experience.

What do you do, could I walk into your job and do it in several minutes, then why do you want to take my job away? or are you a Jack of all trades and the master of none.

I know people like you, that call me and ask to borrow this or that, tools that cost me a lot, that fed my family, I had to pay at a cost, they want to borrow.
I had a $1700.00 paint sprayer come back after a guy run concrete paint through it and said it didn't work. This was after I had to go get it several months later, the sprayer was junk. He didn't take time to clean it.

I had an expensive air compressor fly off the back of a guys pick-up because he failed to tie it down. He couldn't afford to buy the new parts I needed to use it to feed my family.

A guy actually sold a car after he fixed it using my three thousand dollars in tools, without bothering to take the tools out of the trunk. Only the threat of death made him look for the guy in another state to get my tools back.

There's a lot of things I can't do either, I pay the price to have it done, but, not by a fanatic my friend, by a certified mechanic or tradesman the has all the tools.

DIY's or do it your selfers can do any thing (in most states ) that a plumber can do .most county's allow home owners to do owner builder type work but you usually need to get a building permit to make sure the work is inspected and done properly.
A licensed plumber will have the expertise (hopefully)
to design your plumbing systems so they function properly.
there is plenty of info on most any type of home plumbing project on the W W W .
Have Fun:-)

Plumbers have done it before and they know the math that needs to be done and all the triks of the trade, like slope grades and such. I guess if your fanatic enough you could do the same job but its going to take you more time since you dont do it every day. A plumber is also gonna know what codes have to be kept to keep it legal.

I think it can take a fine skill to do a good plumbing job. I have been a skilled tradesman for 10 years in sheet metal, done many side jobs in all trades areas, and yet I still have leaky faucets and drains from time to time.
Each job is meant for somebody...only some can be accomplished by anybody.

He knows the building code. He is licensed. THAT by itself will be enough reason for an inspector to say "No pass" if you didn't use a certified plumber.

They can show the inspector a license. Can you? That is required almost everywhere now. The license ensures they do the job correctly and code compliant.
