A kinfe is not the correct tool for wood -- trying to saw with anything but a saw could injure you. Knives are thicker at the back edge, and would likely get bound in the wood and stick or jump -- potentially cutting you.

Heating won't help, either. If there is any moisture in the wood, heating it would cause the wood to swell, making the blade of any tool get stuck more easily.

Use the right tools, save the project and your fingers.

Chances are no. The heating of the knife blade might actually damage the handle, if not burn you mistakenly in the process. Why are you using a knife for wood anyways?

Try a saw.
