You will need to measure the outside area of the acre - that will give you the beginning measurements. Then you'll need to decide how many rails on the fence you'll want (three, four, etc.) to figure the board feet needed. You'll also need to establish how far apart you want to place the fence posts, and use your measurements to determine how many posts you'll need. (Also, be sure to check with local laws to make sure you've considered setback and easement requirements.)

You have to measure and send a line drawing into fence companies and they can usually figure out everything you will need.
