I've tried a few products marketed as 'book lights' and they don't seem to be particularly helpful for their purported use. I've tried the old clip on reflectors -- ones that you can vary the wattage yourself -- and they seem to work at least as good, and are more sturdy. Is there a truly good 'book light' that is easy to use, not cumbersome, and actually give you sufficient light so you can read for a couple of hours without trouble?

As far as I'm concerned, no. All the ones I've seen have the same flaw, namely, that they clip to the book, rendering it inconvenient at best, and impossible at worst, to turn the page. On top of that, they all only illuminate a small, curved section of the page, and you constantly have to keep moving them to see the different parts of the text.

The only real solution is to take the book to another room where the light will not disturb other people, and read by the regular lamp. Forget book lights.

I've tried a reading light or two myself. They are either cumbersome or clunky or just not bright enough. I use a "natural daylight" lamp now for most of my night reading but it's a full size reading lamp. I plan to get a little book lamp and I've heard that Laser and LED are the better choices and give off better light.

As to whether any of these are easy to use ...I sure hope so.
