Hi,
We have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 washer\dryer which was working fine over the weekend but today made strange noises then when it had finished we opened the door and it was still full of water (whcih is mostly on the kitchen floor now!)

What do we do it's the first time we've had a problem with it & it't about 5 years old. Is there anything I can check myself or do we need to call someone out?

thanks,
Steve.

brill - thanks for all the answsers, plenty to check out. I'll give the GF a ring but it sounds like I'll be having fun when I get home!

I'm having trouble finding the manual for it online so if anyone knows where I can download it please add a link.

Cheers,
Ste.

It could be that the out pipe is clogged with limescale, debris and grease. The other place to check is the filter, usually to be found bottom left behind a flap.

Yes, my kitchen floor has had a good old soaking as well this week.
1) Do you check the pump filter regularly? You will probably find it behind the panel at the bottom of your machine. It may unscrew but beware of more water pouring out. I often get 5 pence and other bits stuck in it which stops the water pumping out.
2) Is there something stuck in the drum? Shine a torch in the machine and see if there is anything stuck. You should be able to see it through the holes. My grumpy teen's thongs often get stuck as they are so small.
3) Pipe may have a kink at the back of the machine which will stop the water pumping out. Squeeze the pipe. It may be blocked. That was the problem I have had this week. It was chock a block full of limescale bizarrely.
4) Failing that it may be the pump not working in which case you will need to call out the repairman.
Good luck. Mine has been written off by the insurance company as they wont pay the repair bills. The pump pipe and timer have all gone wrong.

Washing Machine Full Of Water

We also have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 washer\dryer and had the same problem twice.

Our machine is now 5 years old we took out the extended warranty so didnt have to worry about fixing it.

In our case the drum wasn't emptying and you could see the water in the drum.

In the first instance it was a baby sock blocked in the waste somewhere. The second time was a faulty valve which was filling the drum with clean water.

If the water continues to enter the drum even though you have scooped it all out, turn off the water in supply.

Try cleaning the machine...
1) Check the drain pump filter
2) Get a bag (1kilo) of Washing Soda (Asda 55 pence) throw the whole lot in, do a hot wash. As its 5 yrs old this may be worth repeating, clears all that greasy gunge, machine & drains.
3) Get 2 packs of Washing Machine Descaler (Tesco), put that through.
4) Call the repair guy if this fails.

When facing the machine, bottom right hand corner there is usually a squarish flap. pop this open and in side you will see a screw type thing that you can open with your fingers. this is the filter and out let pump this will drain the machine. Unscrew the opening to the pump Becareful get a bucket. you may well find that this is blocked and unable to drain the water from the machine. just clean it all out replace and put the machine on a short wash.

i can't have faith that that's rain water it is on your device, esp on the grounds that's a front loader. There must be a difficulty with the hose connections and valves as i can't see any way for exterior water aspects to circulate right into a front-loading device, none. Use a moist/dry vacuum (save Vac) to pump out the water. Do you have a diverse-off valve to the water connections on your device? you need to consistently turn off the water connections while not employing the washer - it is going to save the rigidity off the hoses and forestall untimely positioned on, and if there ever became a valve failure you won't have a washer full of water. Have your plumber set up one, it is not that puzzling to realize this, and it gives you you peace of strategies as properly.

The emptying pump has become blocked, this as small fins that rotate very fast when driven by a belt that goes to an electric motor. The only way to unclog it is by removing inlet and outlet pipes, under the washer, then unclipping the top of the pump.Best if you can empty washer out side, this will happen when you remove rubber pipe to inlet of the pump.

take off he black flexible hose between the drum and the pump, inside is a filter or trap like a plastic cup with holes this trap/filter does not have holes all the way round make sure the filter can let water through, somehow mine had turned in the hose, blocked the hole, thus would not drain, really easy job to do and my machine is actually a lot quieter
