I just noticed mold among the soil for my potted plant. Does that mean the roots are moldy? Will this go away, do I repot, or will I have to throw out the whole plant?

it sometimes happens when you overwater your plant...I would repot it, and take that old nasty soil off the top. Your plant should be fine.

The roots are probably fine. The mold you are seeing is probably just a surface mold from watering too much.
Let the surface of the soil dry out before watering again. Let the soil drain and the top gwt a little dry before watering.
Set the plant in the sun, it will help kill the mold.

It might be good to repot the plant.

Mold is not healthy to breathe in so you should dispose of the plant. Where I come from, we never got mold so I don't know how your plant could get moldy but any mold is not safe to breathe in or touch so just get rid of it.
