Mint oil is good, but it isn't enough if they are really bad. Instead take dried eucalyptus leaves (two branches worth...and you can get it at most craft stores) and put them in 1 quart of boiling hot water and let them steep as if making tea. Let cool then remove and discard leaves. Then add 2 tablespoons mint oil to this mixture. Put in spray bottle and spray around doors and windows as well as any where you see them.

In addition to all the remedies you are getting, which are good, one way to make sure that spiders don't hang around is to cut off their food source. So if you have other insects, get rid of them...this may lead you to other remedies, such as getting rid of flies, tightening up on your food storage so that insects don't come in, etc.

I don't know if spiders eat roaches, but a common misconception is that roaches come in when your house is dirty. Actually they are fairly clean but they do like a house in disrepair, loose panelling, etc cardboard boxes with recycling or donations laying around, or boxes from moving that were not unpacked...because they like the tight spaces of being between two flat surfaces. So a remedy for all kinds of critters is to keep things mended and sealed up if you can, which also helps directly with spiders because they are making their way indoors this time of year.
Getting rid of your cardboard, with regard to spiders, just gives them fewer places to hide.

Get some Mint oil and a spay bottle. Dilute it in some water and spray it where ever you want. Its safe for pets and kids, and spiders can't stand the fumes!
