Some herbs like chamomile and lavender smell pretty and I consider them flowers.Maybe its the way they make perfumes with them they have some ingredient maybe parfum to make them smell better. But lilac, lavendukus, rose wild azelea, orange blossom, freesia and hyacinths DO smell good.I put a hyacinth in my room once and one hour lter my whole room smelled like candles and roses. Some just smell better some don't.

Some flowers smell really good. Most people don't smell very many flowers so they think they all smell good. Many flowers don't really smell like much. Some even smell really nasty.
Its just nice to think flowers smell good.

RE:
why do people think flowers smell good?
I never understood this. I've smelled many flowers in my day, some do smell better than others. But in general, all of them have the same grassy scent. It doesn't stink, but it certainly doesn't smell as good as everyone says it does.

Maybe the different smells from flowers brings back feelings of nostalgia from childhood or a romantic setting-kinda like when you hear a song. The smell of carnations reminds me of my mother.

They smell good to attract pollinaters. They will pollinate them and maybe even spread their seeds which in turn, will be a huge benefit for the flower.

This is kind of true, you know. I think its the fact that they smell fresh that everyone is attracted to.. because in my opinion.. many other things smell alot better.. for example.. pizza! I really think it has alot to do with the fact that they smell like a garden etc. Hope this helps!

I guess its a matter of personal opinion. And maybe it depends on your sense of smell.... maybe you can't smell the particles of the flowers as well as others can. I personally don't think roses smell the same as lillies.
(Non-smokers have a better sense of smell than smokers do.. do you smoke?)

These days most new flowers are basicly bred for its appearance and colours. The strong fragranced flowers are rare and in the older varieties. In general, the flowers we see around are basicly of low fragrance.
