We rent a house and one of the bathrooms has no ventilation fan (I think this might actually be illegal). We open the window but the room still gets very foggy and there is some mold on the walls. The owner isn't allowing us to install a fan... are there any alternatives such as portable fans, or anything?? Thanks, advice is appreciated.

BTW: I'm Australian, so would be good if information was relevant. Otherwise i can just seek equivalents here. Thanks.

I your situation a small window fan, although not that attractive, is the best bet. Use it every time you run the bath/shower. The type that has expanding sides that allow the opening to be closed except for the venting area is the best. Clean the mold with a bleach solution and keep an eye on it through time. I live in the US and the local rules for bath fans is, there are no rules as far as having to have them. There are rules for the electric connection and the actual venting sq ft area. But if a landlord does not want one in their house they do not have to provide one. I hope the house you are renting is worth it for you to stay there. Good luck!

Yes get a window fan. And get rid of the mold. They sell a
lot of mold killers. You can put a half cup of liquid bleach in a
gallon of water and use that. Just get rid of the mold
And give your landlord a barb wire boat. LUCK
