Thanks for the sites,This is what property prices in the U.K have driven me to. I start work tommorow. Havent got planning permission yet but im an optimist. Who wants to help out.

Just kidding, did you actualy think i was planning to use the site to build a house from scratch. All i need is an outline of all the task s involved and how long they take.

Forgive this, if anything seems to sound sarcastic.

There may be such "sites", that offer some "general" instruction/ guides as to what options are available; perhaps even some exploded views and images of various stages; but if so it would have to be an extremely expansive web site.

When I built mine Computers were barely able to sort numbers; nevermind offer animations one might sit and study.

I recently saw a THING being passed around the WWW "Why Men Die Early" One example showed a man trying to build steps up to a door at the rear entry of his house. While attempting the project, he was also looking at a comp monitor sitting in the doorway. The scenario was anti climactic in that he couldn't both watch and work.

In your case; even if a novice at any construction; consider the "Steps" needed from the initial thought of a design, to actually occupying a finished dwelling. The list numbers into the thousands. It would include such things as KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS; planning; preparation; permitting; land and processing that for building; inspections; dozens of various contractors or knowledge of those various contracting issues; IE: Engineering; Heavy equipment operation; concrete; Electrical; surverying; Plumbing; Framing; Masonry; Roofing; Interior finishing; etc. etc. etc.; to name a few.

An abstract example of what might be inappropriate in the process; could be the fairy tale of the 3 little pigs? OR even the BIBLE tale about the person building on Sand versus Rock.

I'm not trying to discourage you at all. I'm just trying to share some experience, and knowledge; in the sense that WEB sites; might not get your house built.

Steven Wolf

I often add this. With obvious access to the WWW; have you attempted a SEARCH; using keywords; in your browser?

I would completely agree with the doc on this matter, however if you are just currious then here is the website i just found. Lots of reading and some things are left out but a good start.

You can try this link

You may be able to pull it off if you are deciding to do this your self but it is important that you understand the structure part of this job. Baring walls, lumber dimensions are just a few thing you need to be familiar with.
good luck
