House from 1890; closed hot water radiator system. Oil driven furnace. My upstairs bedroom is too hot cuz when I renovated the room, I put insulation in the room so it stays warmer than the other rooms in the house and is also upstairs where heat rises. I turned 1 of 2 radiators off in the room by turning valve to off. I want to know if there is any risk to the rest of the closed system such as too much pressure on the return or that other radiators may not get water from system though I think that the radiator I shut off is at the end of the line...thx in advance, Rob

I'm looking at the online Burpee catalog and it says "Shallot - 1 Pkg. (10 sets)". What does it mean by "sets"? I'm thinking of ordering some to grow in my garden in the spring.

While driving along Interstate 5 in California, I saw several recently planted fruit tree orchards. This got me thinking...where are the trees grown in order to plant these orchards, and what do they look like? Are the trees planted very close together? Are these the same farms that supply fruit trees for Home Depot and other stores?

I want to change the knobs on my bedroom door, but I can't get the old knob off. There are no screws on either side that I can unscrew. The only thing I managed to unscrew and remove is the latch on the side (where the protruding thing that locks into the doorframe is), but that hasn't helped at all. How can I get this doorknob off?

I'm planning what to do with my tax return that will have the most impact. Should I get granite counters for my kitchen, redo the powder room (update it) or add much-needed lighting throughout the house. Ideas welcome. Spending about $5K.

Thanks.

I have a tree that sends out shallow roots or runners that then grow to full size trees if given the chance. Can I prevent it from sending out the runners? And what is the best way to eliminate an already established offspring tree? Thank you!

I am thinking about a basic light colored wood laminate. I am not sure whether we'd install ourselves or have it done.

I absolutely LOVE the smell of lilacs, but live in an apartment and have no back yard. Is there a miniature version of the bush that can be grown indoors in a container?

What's the best way to hinder the inevitable fading process? Is there a particular soap or way to wash to avoid this? I leave my clothes outside to dry, out of the reach of the sun, but I still find my clothes fading fairly quickly.
