I have tried paint thinner and it didn't work. I think it is strange that washing doesn't get it out because it is water-based paint. Any suggestions? It is my favorite shirt and got paint on it at a birthday party my kids went to.

we recently replaced our water heater and started to hear this thumping. it only happens with hot water and it is only for a few thumps until the pipes are warm. it goes thump, thump, thump for 5 or so times until the water is hot.

Does anyone know what is going on or have any ideas on how to fix this? Is this a major problem or is it common in the winter?

I appreciate any feedback/ideas on this issue.

Thanks,

Jon

So, I started with a through cleaning of the sink... But noticed that
the cupboard above the sink was not at all good: stains on the doors, on door knobs, door-knobs greyish instead of yellow. I started on it.
When I did the doors, I opened them to do their rims, and noticed that the inside was not white but somewhat stained. So, I removed
everything from the cupboard, and cleaned the inside. Then I cleaned all the things that were inside, put them to dry on the table, and noticed that the side of it, the one near the stove, was all covered on oil spots. I started on the sports. Did them, and then looked up and saw that the cooking hood was greasy inside too, and spotty, so I did the inside and then the outside. While doing it, I looked behind the stove, and the wall out there which is hard to reach, was not good as well. But I did not have strength to do it, so I just out everything back into the cupboard, washed the top of the table, scrubbed the floor, because while I

Ok so its the coldest its been here in 8 years. COld!!! I just bought my house last may so its my first winter here. I had used the foam press on stuff on all my windows in november, which gave the windows a tighter fit when closed. However I have a few windows which have air leaks which are fairly bad around the area where the base of the window sill, and the window itself meets. The two have gotten so cold there was about 2-3 inches high of a thin ice formed on the inside of the window.
I was wondering if I should use some clear caulk to seal up the small cracks where the air is coming in.
Please help, I wanna get this sealed up.
Thanks
RYan

I work for a custom home builder and am currently working on new floor plan ideas. When purchasing a new home what are some features that make / break a home for you? Is there anything specific you look for when you tour potential homes? Please keep in mind that these homes are priced mid-higher end for our region. What are the average number of bedrooms and baths you look for? Is there a specific kitchen cabinet finish or granite finish you look for? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as we build mainly spec homes that go on the market and then need to appeal to the mass of home buyers.

My lights have been flickering alot the last couple of weeks, ( I thought it was because of the fridgid weather) and in the shower this morning I went to turn the knob for more hot water and got shocked. This I discovered only happened when the lights were dimmed. What could be the problem? Is it serious?

I transplanted some banana trees that had been trimmed down for the winter. They were 7 ft and are now 1.5-2 ft. They all had tiny shoots on them which broke during transport the stalks are now looking very brown and not as green as before. Did I kill them transplanting them. It has been cool here. It is about 40 at night and getting to the late 60's during the day. I live in HOuston so the temp is not an issue in a few more weeks. What can I put on them to fertilized wise to help them along?

I have a leaking toilet that I dissasembled yesterday. I'm checking the two bolts next to the bowl, and one is fine, but the other has come loose from the wood (looks like the wood started to crumble from a previous water spill.)
Any suggestions about how I could get a new bolt in there, that will be strong enough to lock the bowl in place? The wood is pretty crumbly where the bolt should be, so I'm not sure what needs to be done.
Thanks.

I am looking for a new washing machine with hot and cold fill, but only cold fill seems to be available. My friend told me that is is supposed to be more eco friendly, but i cant see how as it takes longer to heat for a hot wash esspecialy as the cold water is straight from the mains, thus using more energy to heat the water.
