I have a 1 inch gap between the walls and the bath. An anti mould sealant would not fill this and was wondering if anyone out there in England knew of any DIY stores selling a plastic cover to fit around the bath preferably 1-1.5 inches deep to cover the sealant and gap from water

It broke just above the nosepiece. What watt iron should I use? These are about 3 yrs-old, from Sears, of the "Sophia Loren" line.
I've soldered wires/pc boards in the past. Too bad there's not a gold colored solder! Or is there...?

It is worse in the bathroom, throught the vent and through the stairs where the seams are not completely closed. It is very frustrating since we don't smoke. These are older townhomes built in the 70's.

I have a 27 year old house with two Bryant electric furnaces. One of them has just burned out the blower motor and I need to find a replacement. The stock motor appears to be a 3 speed, 240v, 60hz, 1/4 hp, 1050 rpm, 3.9 amp one that has a purple, a red, and a black wire hooking it up. I found a Fasco D749 1/4 hp, 208-230v, 1075rpm 1 speed motor at a local hardware store but it has two brown wires hooked to capacitor and a black and a white wire. I don't know how to hook this up to make it work. Can anyone make this motor work or is there another motor which will wire right up?
Thank you for your help.

I am pissed... I had an independent guy work on my dryer... said the heating element was bad ( not sure how that can be since the element was heating up)..... well.... he shorted out the new part on Saturday when he was installing it. Again... I dont understand how since it the dryer was unpluged for 2 days prior. Any charge remaining in the line should have died by then. He said he thought they were closedo n Saturdays, but was not sure how the stores hours were on Sunday ( I would think they would more likely have been closed on sunday). Anyway... monday the guy was supposed to come back and he never did. called at 9 saying the part did not come in. He told me he would be back tonight, and called at 8 pm saying the part did not come in. I have used this guy before.... so stupid me... I paid him in full for the job the night he diagnosed the problem. He has already cashed the check, so I cant stop payment. I figure I will go get the part and have it for him. No more excuses!

I have a older dog that is having accidents. I was going to put linoleum down but it hooks to the bedroom and I want to have same floor in both rooms and the dog stays in the two rooms so I want something I can clean good. The man at the flooring place said that wouldn't hurt it to get wet from bath. The name of the flooring is Nafco/Donco plank flooring. It has a 15 year warrinty. I am going to have the flooring people install. It looks like wood and he said many people use it in baths. I am worried about moisture and if my dog has an accident. Has anyone had this problem or know about this product or if you can clean urine if gets into cracks. The floorman said that cracks are to small and would go in. I like the look of flooring but don't want to put money into something that will smell or mess up.

We have two built-in electric ovens. Last night, the element on one would not go out so I turned off the circuit breakers.
There are two double breakers.
I turned both on tonight to see if the problem was fixed, which it was not (element came back on), so I turned off one breaker (hoping it was for the oven with the problem).
Well, both ovens still have power and will go on, with one breaker turned off, but the element on the bad oven is now off!
Does this mean that the other breaker is not wired in?
Am I losing my mind?
thanks for any help.

The piece of furniture was in water for a week about a year and a half ago. I have restored the whole piece but just tried the drawer and it wouldn't go in. I glued the drawer together and it is definitely square. I have also sanded one of the sides of the drawers that seems to be sticking and it still won't go in. I made sure the piece itself was not racked and it seems to be square. I am just not sure where to go with it from here. Any help would be great.

A house in my neighborhood has been vacant since the previous owners left 2 years ago I have never seen the new owner,(had a for rent sign up then later a for sale sign, which has since been torn from the ground by someone) for a while gardners were taking care of the yard but for almost 6 months there has been no sign of anyone. the yard is an eyesore(leaves, trash, 5+ flyers attached to the door, grass dying)next to the neighboring houses which have well-kept yards. Plus the house has a pool, and we are not sure or not if it was drained when the previous ocupants left. Is there anything we could do about this? recomendations are welcome.

I have a J-4000 Jiffy Steamer. I've preheated the water then when I switch it to "steam" it warms up and steam comes out but then it starts spitting scalding hot water. I'm holding it upright and I have the water level right. Any ideas?

On the side of my furnace there is an vertical pipe the connects to a pipe that runs all the way across the room and into the drain.

Normally my dog isn't allowed down there because he hides stuff in the gravel pit and spreads gravel everywhere. Today he managed to disconnect the pipe, which apparently isn't glued together. And now I have wet gravel everywhere. Which is just making the basement an even more dank hell-hole that I don't want to deal with.

Now as far as I know most people don't have pipes running from their furnace across the floor. So can someone tell me where, in a normal house this pipe is supposed to go? And whether I can do that kind of plumbing hookup relatively easily myself?

If I can't do it easily is there any reason this pipe isn't at least f$%&ing glued together? And shouldn't the vertical pipe have a cap on the top to stop cr@p from falling in it?

When I flush, the water doesn't drain out. It just rises all the way to the lid. Then it will slowly drain out entirely. I've tried plunging and nothing has changed. If I flush again within five minuets, dirty smelly water comes up through the bathtub.

So I brought my laundry to my moms and washed the baby clothes and put them in the dryer. To my dismay, when I checked to see if it was dry, there are black ink spots all over the clothes. It's totally trashed. What can I do to save it? We're trying milk, hair spray, rubbing alcohol and pretreating with laundry detergent and Kazaam spot remover. It's my baby's entire 0-3 wardrobe not to mention all her blankets and I'm going nuts because she's only 7 weeks. Anything else? It's gel pen ink, which isn't the same as regular ink. Thanks!

Everything was fine last night when I went to bed and woke up with no water. However I did notice yesterday that the water was dirty but only in the toilets. It has been up to -33 with windchill factor. Do you think the pump went out of the well froze? The neighbors are fine.

It is a fairly large cascading corner fountain. I have no pump...yet. I would like to use it like a waterfall and connect it to a pond but have no idea how to go about this. I am tired of promises by those around me to help and if I had the correct information am pretty sure I could do this myself.
I would need to know what supplies I would need and how to set up pump etc to make it work the way I am picturing it. I need the soothing sound of running water close to me and it would also bring the wildlife within view. Making a wildlife habitat on the little piece that is mine to work with.
I would like to thank everyone who will contribute to this question
