I bought a plate at a thrift store for $3.
I later sold it at my yard sale for $10.
The man who bought it sold it on ebay for, get this,
$2,000.00.
Turned out it was an original, signed.
Happy ending: the man came back to me and gave me $200.
Wasn't that nice of him?

I live in mid-Wisconsin. We have a local thrift store that once a year will give you a brown paper bag when you come in (per person, so I bring my son) and it's $1 for everything that you can put in the bag. Last year I got a nice pillow for my couch, bowls, some kitchen utensils, books, t-shirts, shorts and pants and toys for my son, circular ice cube trays, picture frames, Christmas white lights, 2 candles, 2 purses and a pair of shoes. All for $2. They'll be doing this again in July or August. It's only for one day. The store is packed with people of all ages and I saw people there that I never thought would shop at a thrift store. I love thrfit store findings!

I bought this desk at a thrift store for $15.00 and it had been painted black and white-but it had brass pulls and leather inserts on the top so I knew it was antique- I brought it home and stripped it down- it was painted green under the B&w paint so i stripped that also-it turned out to be made of oak and it is just beautiful!!

Fifteen years ago I bought a medium size dorm refrigerator for my husbands office at a yard sale for $75.00. It was like new , he used it for 14 years and we resold it for the same $75.00.
Through the years I have bought so much it is actually hard to remember. I bought a fabulous paper mache' duck, for $1.00 at a church sale. He was beautifully painted and high gloss. We always called it our Buck Duck. I later resold it for $5.00.
We just had a yard sale this past weekend. I love the line "A yard sale is the only place that people pay YOU to carry away your stuff"!

A very old spinning jenny and spinning wheel. Picked them up in Europe. Paid $60.00 for both. The spinning jenny was made in 180?. The builders name is on it but the corner was torn off. Found out that someone, way back, made it for their significant other (hence the name of this spinning jenny) Still have them 40+ years later. Great deal--maybe put them on E-Bay and sell them...or keep them and pass them down to my kids.. Humm will have to think about this one!!

A hand-made airplane, out of seashells that I bought for a quarter. It is so intricate. It even has little people in it made out of shells. I don't normally like things made out of shells, because a lot of it is usually tacky-looking. This is unique and cute, though. Everybody always makes comments about how neat it is & where did I buy it, because they would like to have one.

Heard of someone finding a Coach purse that was torn. Bought it for $25.00. Took it a local Coach store to see if it could be repaired. They said that it could not but they would give her full store credit. $325.00
