I have a couple of pieces. One is a family heirloom dinning room table that is discolored but originally cherry. The others are a light color and I'd like to stain them to a dark cherry as well. How do you get started? Any tips, experience and advice is welcome. I've never done this before. Although I do know for the table I need to sand it first and I have a sander and have used it before.

I am going to lay a carpet using double sided carpet tape but wondered if I should stick the carpet straight to the floorboards or should I use underlay and stick the underlay to the floorboards and place the carpet on top?

I have a HUGE puddle of wax on my carpet from my wax pot leaking. Does any one know how to get it out? If I google it, I can only find solutions for removing candle wax, not hair-removal-wax. Thank you in advance for any help!

My carpenter was building a small wardrobe behind my ensuite in my newly constructed apartment in the UK. He discovered a five inch drain pipe for the shower just sitting inside the main sewer drain pipe, which was around 6 inches in diameter. The five-inch pipe and the six-inch pipe were wedged together with a piece of styrofoam rather than being glued or "properly joined". He discovered this when he accidentally dislodged the pipes and the next morning I took a shower and water went everywhere, even going through the floor to my kitchen below! (It was a mess. My electricity was shorted out for a day until everything dried out.)

My question: is there a Plumbing Code in the UK that I can go back to my original builder with, or is this just "sloppy pumbing"? That is, do I get the original builder to come fix it or do I just get my current carpenter to stick the pipes together and get on with my remodeling? (No code, no complaint, as far as I'm concerned.)

THANKS for your advice!

...although according to the neighbours it was a long time ago. However, i learnt recently of the Australian couple who've just discovered they are living in Dennis Nielsen's old house, 29 Cranley Gardens, Muswell Hill.. (Serial Killer, 16 bodies, and counting..)
Do any of you live somewhere with a gruesome history? Something that makes your friends go "Ooh, how could you live there?"
Obviously, not all the houses where murders are comitted get demolished, Are the new tenants informed or do they find it out from the neighbours?

I took these photos whilst travelling some years ago, and have found them in a box in the roof they have all stuck together and I cannot get them apart without ripping them. How do I separate them safely without having to pay a fortune to someone for restoration? Thanks

I know how to raise and fertilize roses, but how can I breed and register roses of my own efforts. Most roses I can buy or tend to are hybrids and anyone who understands genetics knows that breeding hybrids can be a tricky and stunted endeavor. My real question becomes how can I begin breeding roses that I can call my own and not infringe upon some patent or registration. My final goal is that on my wife and my twentieth wedding anniversary I can give her a bouqet of twenty roses I can call by her name.

As I said before, I know how to raise and care for roses, but I'm looking more for the professional or amateur breeder's experience or knowledge or people who might know how to get involved in that game.

Thanks

I have a area of ground about 5m by 20m I set it aside a few years ago for growing veg but never seem to have the time to get started. What I'd like to know is, will I have to pluck out the weeds or can I get away with just turning over the ground, if so is perhap hiring a rotavator the best solution.
Will the weeds not re-grow if the ground just turned? Is using weed killer on a veg plot adviseable ?
Thanks in advance
