Are you in the uk? The fuse in the plug whould normally go first if it was an overload or a short. What is tripping? an MCB or an RCD (with a little test button) If an RCD then you have an earth leakage problem within the cycle. You will need an engineer to trace the faulty component, possibly the heating element.

ADDED> The water is there because it has no power and can't complete the cycle. pump out!!

Do as KevLec suggests. It may be that it's a coincidence, I've just had the same problem with the dishwasher tripping my ELCB. In the end it turned out to be the hose which feeds the upper spray arm was loose, allowing water to drip over the machine's internal electrics, causing the trip. These hoses, having plastic connections/fittings are only tightened by hand and can come loose. Remake with a bit of PTFE tape, that's what I did. Turn appliance off first!

Siemens Dishwasher Problems

i would hazard a guess that you have an RCD incoming switch fitted. These are notirously tempremental (mine used to trip if i switched the cooker on at the same time as the shower, even though they were on different circuits). Find what the trigger is as it may be something simple. If you have an RCD fitted it means you have a Earth / Neutral fault and these can be very difficult to locate. you would need to get an electrician in as he would have the proper test meters to locate this. Having said all that if you have a standard incoming switch on your consumer unit then this means you have a live fault and this is potetially much more serious. DO NOT USE THE DISHWASHER. Either way if you dont fully understand what i've written you need to get a professional in.

We had the same problem. A friend, who has his own business called Home Appliances, advised us that the water was leaking onto the motor and tripping out the electric. When we took the machine out and examined it, we found that he was right.

Nothing could be done to repair it and we had to have a new one.

After 15 years of use, I considered that I had had fair value for money out of my old Siemens dishwasher.

There are too many items that rely on the same circuit. You will have to get an electrician in to fix this. In the mean time, make sure everything else that is used by that circuit is turned off when you use the dishwasher

I would check whatever other appliances that are on that circuit and switch them off and then if it still trips out you will have to get the dishwasher checked by a professional. It seems to me that if it is after 5 minutes, it is the heating element that could be the problem.

good luck

its time for a electeral upgrade or a new dishwasher to get the water out there is a plug on the bottom just pull it out and let it drain { on mine the plug is on the flont just under the door } sometimes they wont fill or drain because you have been useing to much soap. { { danby service dept } }

It could be anything. Perhaps check where your plug point is. If you jave more than a couple of plugs in an extension lead, it may need changing. Speak to a qualified sparky they should point you in the right direction.

most probably circulation pump water is probably leaking into the pump causing the tripping.
remember safety first UN plug before opening the machine.
