I have an upright Dyson, but the tube fixed to the extention bit has a hole in it, how do I repair it? Its near the top connection piece.

They are reputed to be guaranteed for life so get on to Dyson and explain what has happened. Depending on the age of your machine you should get a satisfactory reply. I found them very helpful when the brushes on mine broke and fell off!!!

The tape will work for a while and is cheaper than a replacement pipe. We got rid of ours when we couldn't get the pipe to go back into the holder which meant that every time we tried to move the blasted thing, we ended up holding onto the handle whilst leaving the vacuum behind...or having to tie the handle in the upright position so we could use it properly...not funny anymore. We now have a VAX turbo and it is brilliant....
Dyson are over rated IMHO

use duck tape !!(the siver coloured strong tape ), i had the same prob !! its now working fine ! you can get in any DIY store ie B&Q
