...although according to the neighbours it was a long time ago. However, i learnt recently of the Australian couple who've just discovered they are living in Dennis Nielsen's old house, 29 Cranley Gardens, Muswell Hill.. (Serial Killer, 16 bodies, and counting..)
Do any of you live somewhere with a gruesome history? Something that makes your friends go "Ooh, how could you live there?"
Obviously, not all the houses where murders are comitted get demolished, Are the new tenants informed or do they find it out from the neighbours?

My friend lives in a house where the previous owner murdered her husband with a knife. The house was empty for two years and then put up for sale, at a ridiculously low price because of its history. My friend snapped it up ..... there were still blood splashes up the walls from the murder! However, my friend - who isn't superstitious - just had a great housewarming party and we all helped clean up the place and decorate it. It's now a really great home and my friend is still laughing about the ridiculously low price that she bought it for.
So there is usually a silver lining to these kinds of stories - as long as you are not the one who met his grisly end in the house!

Dennis Nielsen's crimes actually took place at 23 Cranley Gardens, so the Australian couple are perfectly ok.

I lived in a haunted flat - vendor seemed to forget to let me know this when I was buying it. Anyway, it didn't trouble me, even though he used to press down on my bed. Laugh.

I think it's against the law now to sell your house without informing the purchaser about any resident ghosts - Good job too. If I knew people had been murdered in a property, I couldn't live there.

Some states require a tenant be told. One property I sold 5 years ago with a gruesome past, my realtor informed me that the potential buyer had to ask. If they did not ask, then mum was the word.

I think that if this happens, the landlord is obligated to tell you if someone died in the dwelling.
