I have several broken or missing asbestos singles on my house. It is too expensive to have all of them removed and replaced with another type siding. Is it feeseable to cut a screen patch the size of the shingle I need and pour a thin layer of cement on it. Will it be stable enough to withstand the elements?

Last year my neighbour suggested that I dig up all my gladioli before the frosts got to them. I did this and stored them in newspaper in the shed. When do I plant them out again? I live in Oxfordshire, UK.

Someone in our condo complex is feeding squirrels peanuts. I know this because peanuts don't grow around here! The dang squirrels are upending my potted plants to either hide their stash, or reclaim it. I find peanut shells all over my patio. It's like every other day I see another potted plant destroyed! There's no way to enclose the patio, so any ideas on how to make my space squirrel-proof?

And why do people feel the need to feed vermin? They're dirty, destructive and have plenty to eat without gorging on peanut.

I have frozen water pipes in my house. They supply an upstairs bathroom, and are in an interior wall, about a foot in from the outside wall. I don't have access to them except above the suspended ceiling in the basement. I need ideas on how to get enough warm air into that space between the studs to thaw them.

I bored a hole up from the basement into this space, hoping to use a hair dryer to blow warm air into the space, but that doesn't work. I put a small lightbulb into the hole, hoping to heat it, but it didn't work - it just scorched the inside of the drywall. I tried using a PVC pipe to help move the hot air from the dryer well up into the space, but the hair dryer starts to shut down - the pipe is too small, and it restricts airflow, overheating the dryer.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if I have to cut a hole into the wall to allow airflow. If I do that, I'll fill that cavity with foam beads to insulate it. But I want something to thaw the pipe now! Any ideas?

During my wedding planning, I have had a hard time finding exactly what I have been looking for, whether the items were too highly priced or just not the style or look that I had envisioned.

Very frustrating...

SO, I decided to make some of the items for our wedding and it is all turning out great!

I am thinking about starting my own business making wedding items for a low price. This business would offer hand-made, creative, personalized items for your wedding, such as guest books, pen holders, ring pillows, flower girl baskets, and other items that are personalized expecially for your wedding with your wedding colors and style in mind.

You would be able to see samples of all of the different items and choose from a wide variety of colors, styles, and looks.

I am just curious to see if there would be enough interest in this type of business before I get started. I will be posting on several websites.

Thanks in advance for your opinion!

I planted 5 in kind of a shaded area in the back of my yard. It is kind of forrest - like, but still receives filtered sunrays. I planted them there about 2 1/2 years ago in the fall and they seem healthy, they just have not really bloomed that good yet. Anybody with any experience or knowledge if they really will bloom or not?

It's a Kenmore Heavy Duty older model. I'm guessing fuse or timer but do not know how to even check, I've only had experience repairing dryers mostly for burnt wires! The machine opens at the top and I see wires leading to what I believe is the timer but I do not see any fuses anywhere, I haven't removed the back panel as I think that leads only to the tub? I had no problems before it totally stopped full of water. I had to manually drain using a container! I checked to be sure plug outlet was working and it was fine. Please help, thank you! (Still paying off Christmas, no $$ for replacement or even repairman and my hands are cracking from trying to keep up washing in the sink!)

I am purchasing a house and the water has iron in it which has left rust deposits on my bathroom fixtures (tub, toilet, sink). I have tried CLR but it only got the stuff on the top layer. Got any good remedies that might work?

I bought my house about 3 months ago, so Im guessing the sod has been down now for 3 1/2 to 4 months, putting it at late Oct early Nov. I put down my pre-emergent stuff as soon as I moved in, right around Thanksgiving. Now I have crabgrass and weeds all over my yard and it looks atrocious. I have Bermuda grass in both my front and backyard, and it goes dormant this time of year, but it should start to turn by March/April, so I dont want my yard to look like crap when I go to re-landscape and add my flowers and shrubs. The builder put in some lousy bushes. I live in GA north of Atlanta so if any locals have an idea let me know.

The furnace is electronic ignition and the clicking continues while the burners ignite. After several seconds the clicking stops and the burners go out. I have to turn the thermostat to 90 degrees in order for the burners to stay lit. As I turn the thermostat down to 70 degrees or less the burners go out and the problem repeats itself. The blower comes on with no problem
