I have several broken or missing asbestos singles on my house. It is too expensive to have all of them removed and replaced with another type siding. Is it feeseable to cut a screen patch the size of the shingle I need and pour a thin layer of cement on it. Will it be stable enough to withstand the elements?

Today they make fiber shingles that are similar to asbestos and look the same. You don't need to use cement.

You might be able to get some shingles for a house being torn down..They manufacture a cement shingle, that simulates what you already have..They are made for repair work..Remove the old ones by reaching up between the shingles with a hack saw blade.. Cut the nails off and pull the shingle out..They make a tool to poke holes for the nails. You don't need it .( costly) Get the smallest carbide drill( masonry bit) and drill the holes where you have to..The older lumber yards would most likely have what you want...Trying to make a shingle is an impossible task....

You can buy ordinary 1/4 inch fiberbond siding at lowes. It is a plastic like product hard as iron at the surface. It looks nearly like asbestos shingles with its long grain structure and can easily be cut to size. Cost of a sheet is about $25
