I transplanted some banana trees that had been trimmed down for the winter. They were 7 ft and are now 1.5-2 ft. They all had tiny shoots on them which broke during transport the stalks are now looking very brown and not as green as before. Did I kill them transplanting them. It has been cool here. It is about 40 at night and getting to the late 60's during the day. I live in HOuston so the temp is not an issue in a few more weeks. What can I put on them to fertilized wise to help them along?

Not dead. Mine look like that every year. Springtime will fix your problem.

I am not familar with your climate, but am sure it is warm there from what i Know. Donot give up on them as just the shock of moving them is enough for them to look sad for a while,
Just keep them moist, if you have to use a fertiliser just use an all purpose liquid fertiliser about fornightly and wait a while to see if they pick up,
Hope they survive, but being established and depending on treatment and time between transplanting etc,, they may not survive.

They will stay brown as long as the temp is cool. They are hot weather plants. Mine are brown now, and I cover them during frost. They always come back in the spring.

Once a Banana tree bears fruit it dies back and the keikis (baby shoots) grow up to bear more fruit. Perfectly normal.

that happens when you transplant a plant.you'll need to wait for a few weeks to check if they'll be ok or not. i hope you dig well enough for the roots to move.
