"State" brand manufactures water heaters for Kenmore. Buying them from Sears you are probably paying a little more for the Sears name. They do the same thing on their furnaces, they are manufactured by Heil and sold under the Kenmore name. Back to the subject.... don't buy a water heater from sears because they are supposed to be the best. There are only three major manufacturers supplying water heaters. State, Rheem, and A.O. Smith. As for the warranty it is usually pro-rated depending on how old the water heater is. Labor to install a water heater that is being changed out under warranty is rarely covered at all. My advice after installing many water heaters is to buy one manufactured by one of these three major manufacturers with a 6 year warranty that costs the least.

Any water heater has to be flushed at least 3 times a year. You can see where to hook up a hose to the spigot that comes with every water heater. You have to flush it because hard water minerals collect on the material inside and take away the life from the water heater. Kenmore is a decent brand, and Sears has been around for a long time.

It might still be under warranty. Many newer ones are warrantied for 10 years. You must know when you purchased it? If not it should be on the tank someplace the year it was manufactured. It can't hurt to ask.

my 6yr warranteed Kenmore recently died on it's 6th year. If you have already burned through your Anode, you could have corrosion within the tank.
