Grass is green because of chlorophyl. When you ask why we have grass, I am assuming you wonder why everyone has it for their lawn. I think there are lawn alternatives such as lots of shrubbery or an English perennial garden but grass lawn is more common. Nobody has any imagine besides, you know that! I think white clover is easier to keep green and doesn't grow as high but people are hung up on having a nice lawn. It does look pretty when mowed but I think it's way too much trouble.

We don't have grass, grass has grass. It's the most successful plant type on the planet. It just sort of sits there, minding it's own business. Chlorophyll makes it green. But I wouldn't worry about it to much.

We have grass to stop the erosion of the dirt in our yards. The grass is green because it reflects all the other colors and only absorbs green. That is why it has that green appearance.

We have grass because it is a kind of outdoor carpet. The reason it is green is the reason all green plants look green, they do not absorb the colour green. White light (sunlight) consists of all the colours of the rainbow. Plants absorb all other colours in white light and leave the green for our eyes to see. In light which is not white eg orange street lights, plants including grass are not green.

Not all grass is green. There's a wide variety of colors depending on type. Grass can be used for accents, borders, lawns,to prevent erosion, feed and to keep us in shape mowing.(ha! ha!) Chlorophyll

Because I can get up and go to work a lot easier after a night on the grass than I can after a night on the beer.
