I have tried sticky traps, raid and other sprays. They just keep coming out. Is there a way to kill the eggs as well? Perhaps a chemical bomb?

I have a fan light fixture that is controlled by remote and it will turn on and off by itself. The remote can be sitting on the table and the fan just turns on, or light turns on. Weird.

I want to know if there is any way to hang curtains if you live in a dorm or apartment where you are not allowed to put holes in the wall. I remember seeing it done on a home improvement show, but I can't remember how they did it.

We are going to install 20mm laminate flooring and I heard that the underlayment is just a sound buffer. We currently have subfloor that is pretty flat and even. Can I omit the underlayment? What are the disadvantage of doing so? The laminate flooring will not have glued on back underlayment either. It will be a floating floor.

Every pair I got the second loop tears at the bottom. Thought it might be because of my cell phone holder, but I carry my cell now instead of attaching to my belt, and they still rip.

Is there any link you can recommend that explains how much electricity each appliance uses? We have recently had a new meter installed replacing an old electricity meter in our house and as if by magic, our usage appears to have quadroupled - we've been conned by EDF & we warn you to watch out!
But that aside, are there any common lessons about making existing appliances more economical or about how much plugged in TVs & computers use up when we go to bed?

I have a new heater installed in my dorm. However, it smells funny.... I thought maybe something died in it!

They checked it out today and said its nothing dead - its the heating coils burning off .. whatever film or crap is on them. Ok.

How long should this process last? I'm glad I'm not smelling dead animal, but it still stinks.

BTW - The heater has been running consistently for 2 weeks, at 80-90 degrees.

With temperatures under 50 degrees, does it matter what temperature it is in order to paint? Cause here is the deal, my boss wants me to paint his house just so it will look good for reapprasial and then he is residing his house afterwards... so it doesnt have to be a good job, but at the same time, will it still be able to dry? Thanks!

Did any body watch the show tonight about people not wanting to improve their own homes but get somebody in to do the work.

They were saying B&Q's, Homebase, etc profits had fallen due to the lack of interest in DIY.

I think the program was a bit one sided, there are still a lot of people who can DIY do a good job and will finish the job to a high standard.

Ok some people dont like to have a go their self no problem.

What do others think?
