Any properly installed doorknob should work smoothly. There is no real advantage in one over the othere, if your only concern is ease of turning.

Some are stronger, and more secure than others, but that is not your question.

Depends on what you mean by turn the best. If you are wanting to open a door with the least amount of effort-- I prefer handles over round knobs. I also prefer handles for doors that you enter when your hands are full-- you can open one with your elbow if necessary.

For older folks or those with painful hands, or weakness in hands, the best doorknobs are NOT round - ones that have a LEVER, work the best. Can use even with wet hands, or if you have put on too much hand cream!
Our front door has this type of handle and it's great....I plan to put them on the inside doors too.
This applies to taps on sinks too - levers, so much easier.

Use "Baldwin" it is a very good lock and it last longer. I have been using for more than 10 years and still it in very good condition and that not expensive.
