You have been trying to get it corrected yourself through Yahoo/Answers, I am so sorry for the mistake and knew the minute I did it that I had hit the wrong place, but did not know how to undo it. At this point I do not even know your name or have any of the information as I deleted it all yesterday and then last night this bothered me so much, that I did not sleep well. If you see this and reconize yourself or if anyone else can tell me how to correct this wrong ,I would appreciate it.

I have recently discovered an attempted renovation from a previous owner (missed by the home inspector :( ) who intentionally cut about 14 inches out of a floor joist. The joist is probably 30 feet long and the missing section is almost at the end, starting just a few inches in from an outside wall. Is this possible to repair and how could would it be done? I have placed a jackpost to shore up support underneath the 'hanging' end of the joist. Thanks!

My Ficus tree has begun losing leaves BADLY!!! Do they go through a stage wear they loose their old leaves and grow new ones? I have had almost a year now, and it has always been really healthy. Is it because maybe the pot is too small for it now? Any suggestions on how to bring it back to health? I love my tree. lol Thanks!!

I have an old victorian house that has 7 chimneys. None of them are lined yet. I am not looking to line them all, just one or two. My biggest problem is that my chimneys are about 45 feet tall. The brick is in good condition, but I am sure that they will probably have to be relined. I didn't know if there was a per linear foot price, or if it was more involved.THanks

I live in the state of New York (Upstate)...I live in a apartment. Which is a house with 2 apartment, one upstairs one down stairs. There is only one entrance to get into the apartments...which is also your exit as well. But before you can enter the apartment...You have to go on the porch. The porch used to have two post/banister. One of them has been broken for many months. And the owner/landlord haven’t fix it yet, he just laid it alongside of the porch. I understand he has lot of iron in the fire(other things to do)such as take care of the other houses and apartments he has. Because I know he owns a lot of buildings and stuff. But it would only take 10-15 of his time to fix. A few mornings ago. I was coming down the steps, and happened to slip on some ice/snow. I could of have some support if the post/banister was there, but which it wasn’t, and in result of that. I broke my arm. Is that my fault. Would that be the landlord responsibility to fix that or was that the tenants responsibility ?

I cannot quite describe this smell that comes from my furnace vents and fills the house. Maybe sewer smell, but not quite as offensive as that, just a very unique smell. I am worried it is something serious, does anyone have any advice?

My exterior basement walls do not sit directly against the poured foundation walls due to a floating slab basement. Are firestops required at the top of the walls and also behinde the walls to prevent fires from spreading? The framing was done up to 8' with 9' actual basement height then the 8' walls were nailed with brackets to the 9' floor joists.
