I need to set up a display and really need to know! thx

2.5' squared + 2.5' squared = 12.5'
The square root of 12.5' = 3.5355' or 3'-6.43" or 3'-6 7/16"
That's your answer.

The hypotenuse of a triangle equals the square root of the sum of the squares of the other two sides. And we thought we'd never use anything from that boring Geometry class? (a sq. + b sq. = c sq.)

At the bottom end of each and across, the distance is as follows.
It is the cosine of 45 degrees times the board lenght.

So it is: 1.414 times 2.5 feet =3.5350 feet

Rounded properly to nearest tenth = 3.5 feet

Using pythagram theory A^2+B^2=C^2 you get the distance between the ends is 3.53 feet

3.5 feet, is close, but if I were you I would lay one down on edge and measure the distance. The type of hinge you use could throw off the caculated measurement an inch or more.
