My Ficus tree has begun losing leaves BADLY!!! Do they go through a stage wear they loose their old leaves and grow new ones? I have had almost a year now, and it has always been really healthy. Is it because maybe the pot is too small for it now? Any suggestions on how to bring it back to health? I love my tree. lol Thanks!!

Oh, man...my pooor tree...I did move it about 6 months ago, but since then it's gotten pretty cold here and it's close to the door. Plus my nutso cats knocked it over. I will try moving it to a warmer spot and hopefully where the cats will leave it alone. Thanks for your answers!!

Oh, will ever need to be transplanted? Oh, and don't worry, I won't slap it around for being "bad"! LOL ;)

AH yes the falling Ficus... I call it my nervous tree. These things are possessed... they hate changes of any sort. If you move them, they drop... if you paint a room in your house, they "smell" the paint and drop... if they are near a door or a window and the temperature drops or they get a draft; they drop. You have done something (whether you know it or not...) and the tree is have a hissy fit. Easy on the watering for a bit (less leaves, less water), no feeding or fertilizer and let it re-sprout and simmer down. Never slap it for being bad or it will just have another bigger hissy... they actually like to be talked to as well... almost human those things

Good Luck!

Ficus trees respond to sudden temperature changes. Just move it where temp is comfortable for humans IE 70-80 degrees, and out of drafts. It will come right back . Your tree will constantly lose and replace leaves but not dramatically as you have worried about.
