A tension rod or spring rod that fits within your window frame would be your best option, if your frame allows. Also check the hardware aisle at stores like Home Depot, and look for where you'd find self adhesive hooks. These will say on the package how much weight they will hold. You could find or make curtains with ties or grommets on the top which you could hang from a series of these hooks. You wouldn't be able to draw these curtains open, but you could tie them back. You can also use a strip of self - adhesive velcro, one side stuck to the wall and the other sewn to your curtain. Hang them this way, but again, you would tie them back, not draw them open. Keep in mind, for any of these methods of hanging, your curtains shouldn't be very heavy in weight.
You could also rethink your window covering. Instead of traditional curtains, how about a free standing bi - fold or tri - fold screen in front of your window? You can buy these inexspensively, again at a store like Home Depot, or make your own using some striking fabric in the panels. Have 2 and these could be moved around your room, even doubling as a room divider for privacy if you're sharing. You would also be able to take them when you move.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

When I lived in an apartment, I curtained a whole wall with $1 a yard fabric by stapling it, pleating as you go, to thin molding (called screen door molding - cheap!) then used tiny nails to hang it all the way up by the ceiling. I let it puddle on the floor, tied back at the windows. Looked great!
When it was time to move, I just filled these tiny little holes with a dab of toothpaste and they disappeared.
By the way, I washed the fabric and upholstered it to my own wall now that I own instead of rent. Recycling is easy when it's something you love.

If your windows are metal, I have seen magnetic curtain rods in various stores I've seen the command hooks, but never used them. If you can go to a store like wal mart, then pick up some of the hooks in various sizes, then go look in the drapery section and see if you can find curtain rods that will fit into the hooks.

You can use a spring rod inside the edges of the window, in front of the glass. These are available at Wal Mart.
