Did any body watch the show tonight about people not wanting to improve their own homes but get somebody in to do the work.
They were saying B&Q's, Homebase, etc profits had fallen due to the lack of interest in DIY.
I think the program was a bit one sided, there are still a lot of people who can DIY do a good job and will finish the job to a high standard.
Ok some people dont like to have a go their self no problem.
What do others think?

When I shopped for diy in B&Q I found a lot of their items either broke or stopped working in a very short time. Therefore any diy jobs I have done recently I have gone to smaller merchants with slightly more expensive materials (probably superior quality) and which last a lot longer.
Perhaps if other people have found the same they have also taken their custom elsewhere.

I think it was a fairly good programme, at least it did show the pitfalls of people trying to do professional jobs when they do not have the experience to do any diy work. Overall I quite enjoyed it and it will be interesting to see how all the diy outlets manage to keep track with all the other stores competing for the the same business.

If you are going to do DIY, always look in your local directory, and buy from trade sources. Trade tools and products are not always that much more money and the finish you will get will be worth it. In some cases trade goods are less than half the price of a retail store. Example, Trade decorators caulk is abou £1.15, and that same sort of product in a retail store is not only a third smaller, but it is of bad quality. I can't get a good finish with it. Check it out you wont be sorry.

D.I.Y if you know your limits then go a head with your improvement's,decide our far you can go befor hand the costs of repair out way your savings if you need to employ a tradesman,all d i.y stores are helpful if you ask spend time on reading the information in the first place only take on tasks you know that you'll be able to finish

Sorry, I was with Trevors cousin Ronald and the Hamburglar at Mickey Ds. Then Wendy met us there, and made me the official Burger King. Then we went to see Jack, but he was in the box, so we went In-N-Out real quick only to find Carl jr. waiting for us.

It was amazing to see that extension a guy built. He must have been blind or really stupid to believe he had built a sound annex.
