Zoysia is the classiest grass ever. It fills in very thickly, making it more difficult than other grasses for weeds to get a foothold. It feels cushy and soft to walk on, like a carpet.
The color when dormant (in the winter) is a richer gold than Bermuda. That makes it pretty even in the wintertime, in my opinion. It is thick and stands up straight all winter. Bermuda gets "knappy" in winter. Some people dye it green for winter, and it looks better afterward than dyed Bermuda. (If you get an experienced professional to do the dying, it looks very natural. Don't try it yourself, and get references and proof your professional has done others successfully. A poor dye job looks terrible.)
In the summer, when you don't feel like mowing as often, Zoysia will slow down in the hottest weather, when bermuda is growing great gangbusters. You may occasionally be able to stretch out your mowings in the hot months to every 10 days or 2 weeks instead of every week.
Only bad thing about it, it may stay dormant for a week or two longer in the spring than Bermuda, and it may go dormant a week or two earlier in the Fall . But hey, less mowing again.
Go with the Zoysia !

I am not an expert but i know Austin and the hill country well....although neither is thick and cushy like Augustine, the zoysia is a pretty green and requires so little water in comparison.

Check with your local County Extension Office. They are the experts on grass recommedations. They know what will and will not work in your area. You have a good Ext office in Austin. Give them a call. They also have a web page I believe. The 2 you mentioned are high maintenance to keep looking good.

My parents live in Austin and I live in Ohio. Grass is weird down there it is much more stiff than Ohio grass. I don't know the name of what they have, but it is kind of a bluish turquoise color mixed in with stiff green grass. It's a blend. My mom really likes it.
