I overflowed my bathroom toilet this morning and in a panic, I accidentally got the cotton under my splint dripping wet with urine-water. I'm sure this couldn't be good for a healing incision, so I immediately ran out and bought some rolled cotton and gauze and took the splint off. My question is, how should I clean the area and should I apply any kind of ointment or iodine before I rewrap it? I broke my thumb (1st metacarpal) and had to have surgery 9 days ago (last Friday) to have pins inserted. There are 6 thin, tape-like strip bandages covering the stitches.

When i eat a big meal before i go to sleep, I wake up in the morning knowing that a huge dump is inevitable. However, I always go for the morning cigarette and then the dump becomes too urgent. The problem is that the dump is HUGE in nature and often makes me late for work. Does any one else find that unexpected runs to the Toilet in the morning are REALLY inconvenient? Also, does anyone out there say the Word "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuump" when they are taking a dump?

Well, during gym we were playing kneeball (handball on our knees) and the day after my knee started to swell. Now 2 weeks later it just got worse. NOw I am unable to bend my knee or walk on it. I went to the doctor 1 week ago. He said I might have torn a ligament. The orthapidic just sent me home and told me to rest. For the entire weekend i hae been lying in bed. Well not the whole, but a lot. I was doing this because I am unable to walk and I tryed hopping but I fell. What is a meniscus tear and How bad Do you think I have it if I do?

Ps. Have I mensioned that my knee "locks" when I try to straiteen it? What will they do to solve this problem?

I think I have the condition where the nerves between your toes become elongated, sore and painful. It often feels like I am walking on marbles, even when wearing sneakers. Would like to know what the condition is called and if there is anything I can do on my own.

While lying on my stomach I turned my torso to look behind me and heard a pop from my left hip, followed by sharp pain. This was followed by duller pain, and shots of pain when I try to rotate my left hip. Any ideas?

I was blowing my stuffy/runny nose about a week and a half ago and after that my right ear has felt plugged. I don't know if it is plugged or maybe ruptured from blowing too hard? It definitely feels a lot different from my left ear which seems perfectly fine. What do you think could have happened? It has been about 11 days and my ear still feels plugged...im not even sure if it's plugged to be honest. Any ideas/suggestions?

I understand muscle tears are repaired with collagen and unlike bone repairs tends to be weaker than its original state. For reasons such as unaligned fibers and nervous system irregularities etc. But other muscle tears can heal without surgery so why not hernias?

Have any therapists out there successfully dealt with abdominal hernia repair conditioning without surgery? Long term success?

I know this sounds really stupid but I went to the track tonight and walked/jogged a mile. It's the first time I've done any type of running in I don't remember how long. I was dressed warm because it was about 20-25 degrees outside. When I finished and got back into my car my chest and ears started burning and my glasses fogged up. A few minutes later my head started hurting. On the drive home I had a little trouble breathing and the headache started getting worse. When I got home I crawled into a hot bath which seemed to help a little. Afterwards I just layed on the couch and read for a couple hours. As I laid there my headache kept getting worse and the other symptoms of a migraine start popping up (sensitivity to light, nausea, severe pain) and my chest started feeling tight again. I just wanted to know if this is normal. It's been awhile since I've pushed myself like I did tonight (especially in cold weather) and I'm just wondering how to make it go away.
