While lying on my stomach I turned my torso to look behind me and heard a pop from my left hip, followed by sharp pain. This was followed by duller pain, and shots of pain when I try to rotate my left hip. Any ideas?

See your MD , and only an X-ray will tell what is going on in there. It could be a dislocation or an injury, from what you describe, and the diagnosis will come after the film has been seen, and the treatment will follow. Are you taking something for the pain, such as tylenol or other OTC pain reliver. Best wishes.

Your hip is a "ball and socket" joint and can be popped out of place (they do this during a hip replacement on purpose). If you did twist it to the point where it wanted to pop out but was prevented by muscles (which are cut during the hip surgery) it could be that you tore a muscle or twisted it. There are also nerves, tendons, and ligaments in that area that could be damaged.
I would suggest taking some NSAIDS (ibuprofen, aspirin, etc) and going to see your doctor as soon as possible Monday morning. Also, try not to rotate or move your hip in painful positions as you could exacerbate the injury.

Last night I was working on my back pain with self-hypnosis. After a couple of years with this pain, I woke up and it was gone. I still have a couple of more sessions to go to get it perfect, but it is an amazing feeling. I'm not sure what can be causing this pain. Sometimes parts of we need to feel pain because it represents an emotional issue we haven't yet dealt with. I'm not sure if this is the case, but it wouldn't hurt to try. I offer phone sessions via Skype if you are interested in trying out hypnosis. Side effect free. I hope some of this information was helpful to you. You do need to tell your doctor about what you are experiencing. Before you are placed on any medications, make sure you fully read the warnings and the side effects.

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain. People are still ignorant about knee or hip replacement surgery. Nowadays these surgeries are affordable and cheap. Sometimes it can give the concerned patients relief.
