I went to the ER last night they gave me a shot that did nothing a few ours later they gave me a shot that put me to sleep for a few hours. However since the shot has worn off my head is back to hurting just as it did before I went to the ER. They did blood work and an MRI they all came back normal. I have tried excederin, tylenol and aleve nothing is helping please give me some suggestions?

Headaches can be caused for a variety of reasons. Usually it is because the blood vessels have contracted and or expanded. Some people get headaches because of use caffeine use which constricts the blood vessels.

There could be a variety of other causes including, stress, shallow breathing, dehydration, grief, etc. There are many different remedies.

I personally avoid the painkillers as though they may help for a bit the headaches usually come back more frequent and do not solve the underlining problem. I have owned two health food stores in my life and rare to never get a headache. Years ago I used to be in poor health and took painkillers nearly daily but the headaches only became more frequent.

Try looking at your diet. You might be eating too many refined carbs causing blood sugar problems. When I'm not eating right my body usually lets me know.

Unless you have a tumor, blood clot or something serious like that I believe there are ways to find relief without western intervention. There are acupressure points that can help as well. You might want to see a practitioner who often not only stimulate the points necessary to help find relief but may likely put you on a herbal program.

If you are having migraines I know feverfew is often used in the nutrition world to help. There are also several homeopathic remedies. My suggestion is to go to a message therapist, acupuncture or acupressurist, nutritionist, and a health food store. If you cannot find relief from one of these avenues it could very well be something serious.

Also try exercise as well as eating healthy. Avoid drinking, especially yeast beers, and of course smoking which both also modulate the blood vessels.

One more thing, most people are magnesium deficient. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant and becomes more deficient as we encounter higher levels of stress. I highly suggest getting on a magnesium only supplement. Please don't buy the cheap stuff but rather a whole food supplement. You really get what you pay for and may not see the correct results unless you get the right dose and quality.

I sincerely hope you find relief.

Oh, I almost forgot you can take DLPA and 5-HTP both are amino acids that help to alleviate pain. When I had headaches and tried them as an alternative I noticed my headaches not only went away but did not come back for some time. Now I almost never get a headache. If you take these they need to be on an empty stomach. You might have to play with the dosage if at first but hopefully you can find something that works.

Try a hot shower... it can help relax your muscles, help you relax overall. Can't hurt anyway. If that doesn't help try the opposite, cold, maybe an ice pack on your head. You didn't mention ibuprofen, you could try that if you haven't already- sometimes a different drug will work. Don't hesitate to seek further care if you're still hurting or worried.

There is absolutely NO MEDICINE to treat it. Pain killers are also useless and have side effects, serious many times.
It is due to imbalance in you VITAL BODY ENERGY, acupuncture treats it nicely if you would like.
Some villagers treat it with herbal juice say drumstick leaves or betel leaves or someothers. Just two drops in opposite nostrils will make your headache disappear.

No matter what they say keep going back to the doctor and demand that they find out what is wrong with you!
My cousin had the same problem and the same thing happened to him. After they sent him home he died in his sleep . Apparently it was a tiny aneurism that they didn't find

I had a similar incident and was sprayed on the neck with some kind of relaxer and they stretched my head and neck. then they massaged it. I was told to take a hot hot shower and run the water on neck while doing stretches. tilt head forward, chin to chest while running hot water on back of neck. tilt head to left and run water on right side of neck and visa versa. they said it was caused by tension.
