I think I have the condition where the nerves between your toes become elongated, sore and painful. It often feels like I am walking on marbles, even when wearing sneakers. Would like to know what the condition is called and if there is anything I can do on my own.

You have 2 choices that I know of......Morton's neuroma (which is the condition you described) or metatarsalgia which would account for feeling like you're walking with a rock or marble in your shoe. The best advise is to see an orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist to be sure of the diagnosis. On your own, look for inserts for your shoes that give good arch support in addition to extra support for the "forefoot". There are some good catalogs out there, too: Foot Smart comes to mind.
