I had a wisdom tooth removed yesterday; the tooth was impacted in the jaw bone and it took the doc an hour and half to remove it. My gum is still bleeding from it and the blood is making me sick to my stomach. I need a way to stop the bleeding other than biting on gauze and rising my mouth with salt water.

some fillings. Well I have not had good luck with this dentist. We started with the crown because that takes time. Well I have been going back every week to get the fillings done. I just feel like the fillings are not being done right. There were three large fillings that he just had to re-do a second time a week later. I just don't have a good feeling about him anymore (I really liked him at first). Can I go somewhere else to have the crown put in or am I stuck here because it is already being made. I am supposed to go back in a few days for the prep. work - insterting the cast post, etc....and then some time in Sept. for the final appointment. Can this dentist office send it to another dentist or do I have to go to this Dr. because he started it?

I'm not suggesting eating youghurt INSTEAD of brushing your teeth. Brushing and flossing are OBVIOUSLY the best approach to taking care of your teeth.

But there are times when you're on the go and can't stop, etc., when you need a snack or light lunch during the day. I think youghurt might be not just safe to eat but more beneficial to my teeth than other foods.

The bacteria in yoghurt are supposed to thrive in acidic environments. Decay-causing bacteria excrete acid, which cause decay. I realize they're not necessarily the same acid.

Would the bacteria in unsweetened yoghurt compete with, displace, overwhelm, kill or otherwise counter the presence of decay-causing bateria on the teeth...?

Has any research been done on this...? How significant is the difference...?

(I specify unsweetened because sugar would remain long after you swallowed most of the youghurt bacteria.)

Please cite your sources. Thanks to all serious answers

You can answer if your kid or someone in your family or a best friend had it done. My daughter needs it for her upper jaw. Please include how much pain was involved and if you had to only eat certain foods etc. Also, how did you keep the thing clean?

I will do what she needs, but I want to make sure she is comfortable. She is almost 7 and needs it done soon.

i regularly visit the dentist every 6 months for cleanings and i've never had any problems with my teeth. i've never had braces, and my teeth are perfectly straight. at my last cleaning 6 months back, my dentist had told me that my wisdom teeth were really starting to come in. he told me i should make a consulation with an oral surgeon because under some of them was something that looked like an abscess but they weren't sure, it could have been anything. i never did because i don't want them to touch my teeth unless i have a problem with them. my top left and bottom right have not broken through at all. my bottom left in halfway through and it looks like it's going to have room and i haven't had a problem. my top right there is a very small bit showing on the side of my gums. i have an appt on friday but i'm freaking out because i'm afraid of what they will say. does the removal hurt? is it mandatory? what the hell is an abscess? i want to be a little informed before i go in.

I had a temporary filling put in on the 2nd of this month, and now its getting very painful. I went to a student dentist (I had no choice, we have no dental insurance) I have seen an endodontist and he told me that the student overshot and went to my nerve. So, a root canal is imminent at this point (luckily he's a family friend, doing it for free) He told me it would be an emergency if its painful, and that I need to call immediately if it is.

But, heres the catch: I have to take three Regents Exams tomorrow. My mother won't call him unless I come to her with filling in hand. (even then I don't know if she would) What do I do?

I try to floss a decent amount - and have also tried switching to drinking to iced tea...
But I have had tons of minor cavities between my teeth...
I'm not willing to give up on drinks in the afternoon and such. So what are some tips on how to stop getting cavities without too much of a lifestyle change.

I have been told the tooth care regimen is extreme.. what do you think?

Twice a day I do the following:

- brush my teeth for 30 seconds
- swish with purely hydrogen peroxide for 10 seconds
- brush my teeth for another 30 seconds
- switch with 3 parts hydrogen peroxide and water
- swish with 4 parts water 2 parts listerine for 1 minute
- swish with listerine for 30 seconds
- floss

3x a week:
I used whitening strips for 30 minutes to keep the whiteness
