The salt water is supposed to help stop the bleeding... basically, you add salt water to warm water and rinse... i don't know how long it lasts tho... and no solids... I think warm/hot food are probably better...

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water regularly. It will help your mouth heal. Don't brush your teeth for two days. Eat soft foods & don't chew on the side where your tooth was extracted. You can eat a sandwich but make sure it contains soft food. Try jello, applesauce, pudding, etc. Don't use a straw when drinking out of a glass for a while. If you smoke, no smoking for a while.

Dont do any of the following for 24 hours: use a straw, drink anything carbonated, eat anything too hot or spicy(spaghetti, pancakes, any carbs are good for healing) smoke, rinsing or spitting(you can rinse with warm salt water tomorrow) You should bite on gauze for at least a couple of hours. If any bleeding persists dampen a tea bag and place in the socket.

Use the salt water at least twice a day to rinse mouth, And try not to eat food that is overly crunch or apt to leave pieces of it's self in the empty spot.

Salt water does nothing, forget about that. You want to replace the gauze about every 4 hours. You can eat, don't eat on the side where your tooth was extracted. You can brush your teeth, just use a soft bristle tooth brush. Don't drink from straws, it can cause dry socket. Don't smoke. Make sure to drink lots of fluids still, because water helps fight off infections due to plasma in your blood and movement of lymphocytes.

HELLO SWISHING GENTLY WITH WARM SALT WATER IS GOOD.
WHY?
THIS HELPS TO FIRM UP THE GUMS WHERE THE EXTRACTION OCCURRED AND KEEP DOWN THE LEVEL OF HARMFUL BACTERIA - THIS ALSO AIDS IN HEALING.
DO NOT EAT ANY CRUNCHY FOOD THAT WILL GET STUCK IN THE SOCKET.
