I had a wisdom tooth removed yesterday; the tooth was impacted in the jaw bone and it took the doc an hour and half to remove it. My gum is still bleeding from it and the blood is making me sick to my stomach. I need a way to stop the bleeding other than biting on gauze and rising my mouth with salt water.

Bite on a tea bag. The tanic acid in the tea will stop bleeding.

Nope, that's not normal. Of course you've got a wound there, and they are bound to bleed a little bit afterward, which should stop after an hour or so. (don't drink warm stuff) If the blood is gushing out of the wound, then you need to call the dentist, or dental-surgeon (don't know who removed your w-molar). They'll probably call you in, and depending on the seriousness of the bleed, they will stop it with a gauze, or they may want to put a stitch, or two, in your gum. Good luck.

Were you given proper post op instructions. You should not spit, use a straw, rinse etc etc.

You are suppose to let the blood form a clot, it is part of the healing process. Spitting, rinsing, straws release the blood, which is not what you want. You need to go back to that dental office, why are you writing here instead of going to them so they can care for you.
