i am 12 years old and i dont exactly brush my teeth 2 or 3 times a day. i dont floss or use mouthwash either. i noticed though, that my gums are bleeding above one of my teeth. all my friends notice it when i smile. they said it could be gingivitus.

1. do i have it, or is it something else?
2. if i do have it, how do iget rid of it?
3. are my teeth gonna fall out if i dont do something quickly?
4. is there a website you know of that can give me this type of info?
5. is it common for kids my age to have gingivitus?

thank you sooooo much! im scared to ask my parents this because they might get mad at me and never let me have soda or candy again!

by the way...
to help this i will brush 3 times a day nd floss twice and use mouthwash twice.
i will not eat so much sugar, and if i do i will brush afterwards
please tell me if there is anything else i need to do!

THANK YOU SOOOOP MUCH!!!!

I tried Crest whitening, the affect was very powerful, I can feel it's corrosive, it actually hurts my finger when I tried to put into my mouth, it did whiten a few shades, but my teeth hurts like I was zaped by jolts of electric currents. Is there anything I can do to desensitize it, would it be less sensitive if I let my dentist bleach them?

The other day my 4 year old drew a picture of my with YELLOW TEETH! I don't smoke or drink coffe and I've brushed twice a day all of my life. What is a cost effective way to truly make my teeth look white again?

you see...yesterday at around 10:00 @ night i was brushing my teeth. First i rinsed my mouth with CREST whitening mouthwash. Then after that, i noticed something really gross on my tongue. It looked like this yellowish/greenish fungus on the middle of my tongue. It kinda reminded me of like dog fur on top of my tongue. i tried scraped it off with my tongue scraper and brushing it with my toothbrush.
My mom thought it was like a reaction from the mouthwash.

But today, it was still there. Sometime in the afternoon, i tried to scrape it off again, and it got a little bit of it off. But it kinda looked like little tiny peices of my tongue came off. and I don't know how to get rid of this or what it is. I mean i brush my teeth reguraly and I'm really worried and it looks really discusting.

I wanted to see if any of ya'll are dentists or doctors and can tell me why my tongue suddenly did this, what this "fungus" is and how will i get it off. Please HELP ME!!!

thanx (in advance)

I had a cavity filled about 5 hours ago. It was my first cavity. My tooth really hurts where they filled it. It stings and feels like it is throbing. Is this normal? How long does it take to go away?

I am having one wisdom tooth pulled sometime in the next couple of weeks. It is an upper tooth. (I am 35 years old.)The tooth is not impacted. It is broken and has decay. I will be awake during the procedure, with just novocaine to numb the area. The oral surgeon and his assistant said I will not feel pain but I will feel up to about 20 pounds of pressure. This sounds extremely scary to me. Also, he gave me a prescription for Halcion, which he wants me to take before the extraction. I am also nervous about that, as I am very senstitive to medication, but he said all it will do is relax me and that it will also relax my jaw which will make it easier and faster for him to extract the tooth. I want it to be as easy and fast as possible so I am planning on taking the Halcion before my appointment. Has anyone had any experience? I am curious about reactions to Halcion and what to expect to feel when I take it, and about the pain and/or pressure I may feel during the extraction. Thanks!

I moved to Chicago recently and was in need of a dentist. I did not know anybody to ask for recommendations, so I searched on the internet and found one who had good reviews. When I went to the office, they kept me waiting for an hour!! I was shocked to know that they were charging $265 for a simple bite adjustment. The receptoinist asked me to pay the bill immediately after the treatment. I advised her to wait till she hears from my insurance.
Later on I got a recommendation from a colleague and found a good dentist, he charged me $48 for the bite adjustment(yes, I needed another one). My insurance has paid the crook $50, out of $265, now he is sending me bills for the remaining $215. What should I do? I do not want my credit history affected by this. But I also dont want to pay such a high price for the substandard treatment.

I don't understand this. I've seen people under 30 with teeth rotted up to the gumline. I know a guy who's 35, only a couple teeth left. He says it's due to hereditary gum disease. Could this be true? Or is it most likely due to drugs? Could any other drugs other than crystal meth cause this problem?

I've had braces for 6 months now, and the back wire on my bottom teeth came lose, is there a way I can fix this by myself?
My orth. is closed today and I cannot get a hold of her. I'mnot sure if the dentist will do it either. The wax cannot fit back there as the sire is underneath the tube where the wire should be. I checked my sheet and it said sdomething about the Tube wire, but thats not the one, this is at the very back of my muth with the wire out of that little hole. Is this possible for me to do it myself or my dentist seeing as the orth. is closed today? If so, how?

Right now my molar(s) (Dont know yet) are coming in and my dentist told me that she would not pull them because they will push all of my teeth into perfect order...Right now there is a few gaps between some teeth, but is it true that if my molars come in, my top teeth will become straight?

I woke up about a week ago and found a small bubble on my gum after I brushed my teeth. I could push on it with my finger. It was soft. It deflated kind of over a week and now its just a soft gum patch but it swells sometimes. It doesn't hurt at all. I'm thirteen and I have braces. I think it might be a cyst? Are those common on the gum? Thankyou. Serious answers only please.

I had my wisdom teeth removed last Wednesday, and now I have a large swollen area where the bottom right tooth was removed. The lump has been here for three days and I've been rinsing with warm salt water and putting warm compresses on it but it isn't helping any. Also my lower left wisdom tooth's stitches came out and now there is a hole there. This really worries me because I'm still in a lot of pain and have three pills left. Anyone know any other remedies for relief or what is going on?

ok... i had a really nasty gap in my front two teeth but i got braces and it closed it up.. and the orthodontist said i should get some surgery where they cut nerves or something between the 2 teeth so the gap wont open again.. i think its called a frennectomy or something? it starts with "fren..."

but ANYWAY... if u know what im talking about, i was wondering, how do they "cut the nerves"?

do they do it with novicane or do they put u out for it?

is it an out-patient thing or do u stay for a couple days?

one more thing lol... does it hurt after its done or not?

thankss

I have an abscessed tooth and I'm going to make an appointment for a dentist tomorrow. I went to the ER and got some antibiotics and pain pills. I'm wondering what to expect from the dentist. My tooth is pretty decayed so I'm thinking I'll get either a root canal or an extraction. Which one hurts less? My mom says an extraction hurts less. Does it?

My son is 4, and has been to the dentist once, about 2 yrs ago. I think its time for him to go again, i want to start getting him in the routine of going every 6 months, but theres a problem. My son tends to be very nervous and shy around new people, and is timid with anything new or new situations. The first dentist i took him to i was able to go back with him, and everything was fine. But we have since moved and none of the dentists in my area allow the parent back with the child. I am uncomfortable with this for many reasons...for 1 i know my childs personality and that would extremely upset him. Also, i dont know who these people are taking my child into some private room...im not very trusting with strangers being alone with my child when i havent even met them, doctor, dentist, whatever...i certainly wouldnt allow my son to go into the Dr exam room alone at age 4, so why should i let him at the dentist? How do i approach this and handle this?

So I just started wearing my old retainers again like the dentist said and i know for the first few weeks my teeth are going to hurt like HELL. I was wondering if Tylenol would help ease the pain.. and if it's OKAY to take one everyday for a week or so.

She has crowns and bridges that are about 15 years old and they too need to be replaced. Instead of doing this and most likely ending up with dentures in a few years she is considering getting them done sooner rather than later. How annoying are dentures? How embarassing are they? Can everyone tell that you have false teeth or have they improved over the years and she will be making the best decision to see a qualified dentist that can work her up for this solution to the multiple problems she has. She is a young looking 50 year old and her teeth have kept her from smiling all of her life.
