Yes, only about 5 or 6 times, and I need to go in for another one sometime in the near future to get my wisdom teeth removed.

Is the tooth ankylosed? Meaning, is it fused to the bone? That's the problem I had, and I still have. My oral surgeon and orthodontists (yes, more than one) tried everything from a bracket and a chain attached to a wire, bringing the tooth down surgically, etc. Nothing worked, and about a year ago I got a bonding on the tooth.

The IV will probably go into your forearm, and you won't even feel the pain because you'll be unconscious before you realize what's going on. It's just like falling asleep - you wake up in what seems like a minute.

Don't eat or drink anything the morning of your surgery, not even a tiny sip of water. I'm not actually sure why.

Good luck!

This all depends on your age and the health of your teeth. I worked for a Dentist and there are many options YOU have as a patient (remember, patients have rights too).

The IV only "sticks" for 1 second, and then that's it - no more pain. Fact some medication they give you via IV helps "take the edge off". Much better than going to sleep, because you are still aware of what is going on with your body, but relaxed enough not to freak out.

That shouldn't hurt too much. You won't feel a thing while you're asleep, and as for the IV, it feels no worse than getting stuck with a safety pin or something, and once it has been placed in your hand, you won't feel it anymore. You might have some pain once the anesthesia wears off, but they will most likely give you really good pain meds for that, like Vicodin. You'll be fine!

when i was 15(im 17 now) i had a tooth in the middle of the roof of my mouth hidden in the gums and they wanted to take it out, so i had a surgery. i was soo scared of them putting me to sleep only because after the prick you, u just have to sit there and wait for it to work which made me feel panicked. when u wake up at the end ur super dizzy and dont really remember whats going on or where u are, and ur weak so they help u into a wheelchair.....but after that, its ok. im one of the most scared and worried people so if i can get through it, u can too.

I've had oral surgery, and it really wasn't that bad. My dentist didn't use an IV; he used the gas on me and it totally knocked me out. I don't remember a single thing -- no pain or anything. The only thing that sucks is the aftermath; while it's painful, it's all worth it in the end.

You won't feel anything but a little prick with the needle. You'll be in a lot of pain when you wake up, but the dr. will give you medicine.

the iv isn't that bad and you won't realize any of the other stuff they are doing to you.
