I just got back from the dentist an hour or so ago. I had been in 2 weeks ago and she filed down the fillings a bit. After a couple of days, the pain came back so I got back in to see her. She filed down the fillings a bit more today and said that my bite should be fine now. Right now, I have no pain when I bite down. I'm just afraid that in a couple of days the pain will come back like it did last time. She has taken x-rays the last 2 visits and says that there is no infection or anything that could be causing the pain. Has this happened to anyone else? How many times can you have your bite adjusted before something else needs to be done? Should I just be careful about eating on that side of my mouth for a couple of days and see if the slight pain I had in my tooth calms down?

I had a brace a few years ago, but was unhappy with the results from my dentist who had just started practising ortho at the time. Is it possible to get another Brace on the NHS or will i have to pay privately?

Just wondering, when normal ppl relax their tongue(like usual), does your tongue touch the teeth in front of you? When I relax my toungue, it tends to push against the teeth or touch it slightly, is it normal? I start to feel little bit uncomfortable, like bounded to something.

When I say words like "floor" "fly", I tend to touch my front teeth a bit with the L sound(not on purpose, just when it touches the roof, it touches the teeth sometimes too, I think causes my toungue is pushed a bit more forward than others), is it normal? Or should ordinary toungue never even close to touch the teeth at all when pronouncing these words?

I think mayb I developed a bad habit of pushing the tongue foward by practising the "TH" too much, also I mistakenly replace all the "t" with hard "th" sound, that ruins my tongue's structure, that it tends to be more forward all the time. But still I am not too sure if i am. Please help me answer the above, so I can compare. Thank you very very much.

and I'm thinking about either implants or porcelin bridges. I am still young, 23 and really self consciese about my teeth, can you tell me on average how much it costs and maybe other solutions. I have many cavities and I know fillings only last maybe 5 years.

Not sure if this is a concern or not. When my son was teething he got his middle bottom two first then the middle top two. According to parenting books this is 'normal'.

My daughter got her bottom two first, but now the two that are appearing at the top are not the two middle ones but a middle on and one beside it. Should I be concerned about this?

I just went in for an initial appointment with a new dentist today, who took some x-rays and told me I needed a root canal on one of my back bicuspids. However, this was a surprise to me because I am not in pain at all, there is no swelling or sensitivity, and I have not noticed any problems with this tooth. The x-ray showed a deep cavity, but it was not touching the root, and the root is not infected or anything either. Is this dentist just trying to swindle me out of an extra $900?

Also, can anyone explain what the difference is between resin and amalgam fillings, and why resin ones cost so much more?

I am definitely going to get a 2nd opinion before committing to any work with this dentist, but curious if anyone has had a similar experience needing a root canal with no physical symptoms.

Thanks!

RT

I usually get them once I bite any part of my mouth/tongue and open a wound as result. they are so irritating and I have tried many OTC products that usually just numb the pain, not cure the problem. I don't mind the pain but I mind the healing process taking forever.

2 weeks ago i had gum surgery. the dentist took a piece of tissue out and was sent to biopsy. Recently i found that there is a little bump but its soft unlike the piece of tissue taken out and the new bump is small. I accidently made it bleed but i noticed the blood only comes out of 1 tiny hole. almost as if poked with a needle. what is this bump? is it common after surgery? What should i do?

p.s. i have a dentist appointment so if u could plz give me some questions to ask that will be great

I went to the dentist a couple of days ago and it seems that I'll need dental implants. My dental insurance with my job won't cover these procedures and I really don't have that kind of money. I'm only 29 and I'd like to have a beautiful smile for the rest of my life. Can anyone help?

one of my teeth had a filling a few years ago and always bothered me, very sensative and i thought i might have cracked it when eating hard candy months later but my dentist couldn't find anything wrong....so i lived with the pain and later went to another dentist who said i needed a root canal right away! so i did but after that it still hurt (it's been a year since root canal) and now it has had like a hard bubble above it for months...now today the skin on my gum looks white and red and it's peeling!!! so i put hydrogyn poroxide on it...should i just get it pulled? i can't afford to get all the bridge work or crown cuz i don't have dental insurance! it's kinda in the back so you wouln't notice much if i just got it pulled...

I am having root canal done in a few weeks with a crown over the weakened tooth. It is the second tooth from the top that will be worked on. What should I expect? I was aways told that my tooth will end up falling out in a few years because of the root canal because it weakens the tooth.
