and I'm thinking about either implants or porcelin bridges. I am still young, 23 and really self consciese about my teeth, can you tell me on average how much it costs and maybe other solutions. I have many cavities and I know fillings only last maybe 5 years.

Implants and bridges are used to replace missing teeth, or badly broken-down teeth that cannot be treated and need to be extracted. These are not options to be taken lightly.

Only a dental professional can determine whether or not you are a suitable implant candidate, taking into account many factors such as your state of health (implants require invasive surgery), the amount of bone present (you need a certain amount of bone to anchor implants securely), presence of structures in the area that might interfere with implants (sinuses, mandibular nerves, etc.), periodontal health, space available, etc. It's not as simple as saying "I want implants."

I agree with Dr. Albert above. You need to get a full evaluation of your oral condition from a dentist, so that you can learn what kind of treatments are the most sensible for your situation. Implants and bridges are not a panacea for all dental problems.

Hope this helps.

If you want the best results and most effective, go with the implants, they are likely to last you for a very very long time. On the other hand, porcelain bridges are not very strong, knowing that they are ceramin. They also have a element in them, not sure what it called, but if you swallow it, it can give you some pretty messed up deseases. I'm stumped on the costs of the dental implants, because I've never had them myself. If I were you, I would look up on google.com, to see the average prices of bridges and implants online. I hope this was the best answer for you and helped you.

HELLO AMANDA,

IMPLANTS ARE VERY GOOD BUT VERY EXPENSIVE.
PORCELAIN BRIDGEWORK IS THE SECOND BEST CHOICE.
IF YOU ARE SO SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT YOUR TEETH, MEET WITH A DENTIST AND EXPLAIN YOUR DESIRES AND FIND OUT ALL THE DIFFERENT CHOICES YOU HAVE.
HAVING YAHOO ANSWERS QUOTE YOU A PRICE IS UNREALISTIC BECAUSE THOSE OF US WHO ARE DENTISTS AVE NEVER SEEN YOU PERSONALLY AND CAN'T SEE EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR PARTICULAR CASE.
