On January 24th I had a composite filling placed on the back of tooth #7 it had been aching and I was having prickly sensations in it since then. I had been back to the dentist twice since it was filled complaining about this tooth. I went back in on wednesday again and my dentist discovered that I had a high filling and a few specks of composite on the opposite side of the tooth the filling was placed on. He polished it down, adjusted my bite and it feels much better now but this tooth is still very sore. How long can I expect for this to continue? Will it get better? Could there have been permenant damage because this went on for almost two months? Or will I be alright? How long should I give this tooth to recover before I go back to my dentist?

I broke my tooth eating one of those chocolate mini eggs. The dentist said I need a root canal and a crown (with crown lenghthening). This will cost me $2500.00. I need two other crowns and a couple of fillings replaced. Should I pull the $2500.00 tooth (in the back) and get the rest fixed. Or should I get on a payment plan and fix them all? Keep in mind that I just dished out $20,000 (literally) for my sons eye surgery. For anyone with old fillings - get them replaced. The dentist said this is my whole problem. Apparently, fillings don't last a life time.

well, anyway, it came back that he has a couple of teeth decaying. Is that the same as cavaties? He says they don't hurt.
So what will happen if he doesn't get them pulled? Will the infec. spread or something. He is diabetic.

is it bad for a 12 almost 13 year old kid to bleach their teeth? i dont mean on a spoiled meter, i mean is it harmful to their teeth, cause my daughter wants to and i told her yes but first we are going to find out if it will casue damage, her teeth are not very sensitive, and i am an adult that can help her, i am only letting her bleach them every-so-often. is this going to destroy my daughters teeth? i am letting her do it now, then again in 6 months, and then a year on after that so pretty much once a year. i no her very well, she probably has never missed a day of brushing, but ill admit her teeth are sort of dull, not really yellow, just dull, not sparkling white. the dentist said that teeth whitening could help, but he thinks i should do research on which products to use. i am thinking maybe WhiteLight or Plus White Whitening and Brightening System. both not very expensive and from what i hear if u follow the directions they are safe and work well. please help!

I am wanting to get braces soon, I am learning all I can about them first. My question is after the braces come off you have to wear a retainer....do you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life or just a few years or something?

I had a filling on a rear tooth done a long time ago, never had any problems. Now I just went to the dentist a few days ago and they took x-rays and noticed a "large cavity." They checked it out for themselves but I showed no pain/symptoms. I was set to come back in a few days to have it filled, but when I went in and got it filled, during the filling I was told that I would need a root canal. Is it possible to need a root canal if the dentist drills too far? Also, is it possible that the tooth wasn't properly filled the first time, so now it has progressed to this? Thanks!

I need cosmetic, reconstructive dental work done on my teeth but I live in the US (New York) and it is horribly out of this world expensive, plus I don't think the dentists are that good as I've been to a few supposedly good ones and didn't have great experiences.
So I am thinking of taking 2-3 weeks off work to travel to another country for vacation/dental work. Where is the best place to go? What is the process? Do I contact some sort of agency in the US or do I just go to the specified country on my own and do my own planning, etc from scratch?
What is the best way?

Any input very much appreciated!

Why, as a single mom on disability, should I have to take my daugher to a dental school to have specialty work done on her teeth and gums. She has a rare genetic disorder, this is not cosmetic surgery. But no dentist that accepts medicaid will work on her and why should I really trust a student in a dental school to help her when established dentists wont even perform the work that desperately needs to be done. Aren't there any reputable dentists that will do pro bono work? I'm tired of hearing about things that are being done in other countries, what about our children in America. Why should my child suffer because I have a limited income due to disability. Just for the record, the dentist who did accept medicaid and saw my daughter was neglectful and didn't know what he was doing, now my daughter has an abscess and a fistula, that all could have been prevented if the dentist knew what he was doing. Anyone know of any reputable dentist that would do pro bono work on my daughter
